Taking a look at various trending video game storefronts, we want to see what's hot as of 2022's fall season. To paraphrase Heidi Klum - in gaming, one day you're in, and the next day you're out. With only one way to find out, let's jump right in. 

Twitch

Trending games on Twitch are different from the games on storefronts. Because Twitch is a way to watch rather than play, trending titles here can depend on big tournaments, established names, and new releases. This is the same for trending games on YouTube, especially in esports titles like Dota 2 and CS:GO.

1: Grand Theft Auto V

No surprise here, as the most profitable game of all time continues to reign supreme. Hilarity, mayhem, and fun with friends keep GTA 5 as one of the most popular games ever.

2: Valorant

Fusing CS:GO with Overwatch was a gamble, and for Valorant, it continues to pay off. A great title for players and spectators, this FPS takes spot number 2.

3: League of Legends

The third in trending games for Twitch is LoL. Heading into the World Championships later this month, LoL fans are already gearing up.

Few download games can stand up to the enduring popularity of Pokémon GO. Maintaining its spot, this once-in-a-lifetime game has proven difficult to dethrone.

Slithering into second place is a game which borrows from the classic legacy of snake titles on mobile. It turns out that trending games can follow an idea popular for decades!

3: Clash Royale

One of the Clash series of titles, Clash Royale holds on to the third spot. Building bases and invading others in this game keeps proving a perfect fit for mobile players.

Trending games on iOS start with Survivor.io. A horde-based survival and strategy game, this title has players setting defenses, fighting bosses, and leveling up.

2: Stumble Guys

The first battle royale on this trending games list, Stumble Guys tasks players with braving an ever-changing obstacle course. With opponents trying to stop you, this party game is a hilarious challenge.

3: X- Hero: Idle Avengers

Not related to the Marvel property, Idle Avengers is a gacha game set in a fantasy world. A card battler, team building and collecting are the cornerstones of this title.

PC

1: Roblox

As a platform run entirely by player creativity, the place of ROBLOX in trending games is to be expected. With so much to do and see, this one is a classic.

2: Fall Guys

The game that popularized the party battle royale genre, Fall Guys remains a strong contender in trending games. Reach the end, push over your opponents, and laugh endlessly during the process.

3: Minecraft

Needing no introduction, Minecraft is as much a game as it is an institution. As popular now as ever with players of all ages.

Like with Twitch, the games trending on PC can depend on tournaments, but the top trending games tend to be new releases. At the time of writing, the cat game Stray only just faded out of popularity. Whenever this happens, Minecraft tends to take over until a new hit is released.

1: The Last of US Part 1

The second remaster of Sony's blockbuster hit, TLOU Part 1 has only just hit shelves. Topping the trending games list, this zombie-based action-adventure looks and plays better than ever.

2: Fortnite

Still going strong and evolving the game, Epic's Fortnite finds itself in the second position. Especially popular with kids, we expect to see Fortnite here for years.

3: Fall Guys

With its second appearance in this article, Fall Guys trends on PlayStation as it does on PC. The same experience, so what's not to love?

1: Fortnite

Like on PlayStation, Fortnite performs well on Microsoft's trending games list. With cross-play enabled, both systems can even play together!

2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Xbox has always had a different diehard audience than Sony, and COD is still a prime example of this. Modern Warfare continues the popular series, with the most cutting-edge graphics and quick scoping around.

3: Apex Legends

Filling out the trending games list on Xbox systems is the F2P battle royale, Apex Legends. Set in the Titanfall universe, this FPS came out of nowhere to take the world by storm, and it's fought to stay there.

Nintendo Switch

1: Splatoon 3

Recent release Splatoon 3 tops Nintendo's trending games list with this paint-based multiplayer shooter. Fusing kids, squids, and making a mess was an odd idea, but this is Nintendo, so they knew what they were doing.

2: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Racing into second is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Adding on from the original Wii U title, Deluxe is amid new DLC track releases, which no doubt has kept it trending.

3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Our final entry for the day is the latest in the Smash Bros. series. A huge roster, online play, and a massive player base continue to prove this series has legs.
