Throughout the Lands Between in Elden Ring, you’ll stumble upon Sacred Tears. These rare materials allow you to upgrade how often you can use your flasks to restore HP or FP. Because of its rarity, you can only find Sacred Tears in a handful of areas throughout the map of one of the best PC games.
So, how many tears are in Elden Ring? From the welcoming areas of Limgrave to the treacherous terrains of Caelid, you’ll stumble upon 12 Sacred Tears as you journey through the Lands Between. If you don’t have these rare upgrade materials, you’ll have very limited heals to rely on when stumbling into boss locations and other intense encounters. This guide covers all the Sacred Tear locations in Elden Ring.

Limgrave Sacred Tear Locations

- Recommended level: 1-40
Limgrave is one of the first places where you’ll level up in Elden Ring. All Sacred Tears found here are quite simple to reach. Two of the tears are in Weeping Peninsula in Southern Limgrave, accessible by crossing the Bridge of Sacrifice.
1. Third Church of Marika Sacred Tear

You’ll come across this church as you traverse the eastern part of Limgrave. It’s located just off the road behind a shallow pond and is usually the first Sacred Tear most players discover. To pick it up, look for the shining altar at the back of the church and upgrade your flasks for the first time at the nearby Site of Grace.
2. Church of Pilgrimage Sacred Tear

Since the second Sacred Tear is also found inside a church, it shouldn’t be hard to find. Situated at the northern tip of the Weeping Peninsula, this church overlooks the sea and is guarded by a few weak foes. Keep following the main road south across the bridge, and continue uphill to reach this spot.
3. Fourth Church of Marika Sacred Tear

This church sits to the west of Castle Morne, which holds some of the best story moments for an NPC (Irina) early in the game. As you continue along the cliffside path, you’ll find the church standing in a field surrounded by ruins. Simply head inside to find the Sacred Tear at the foot of the statue. At this point in the game, you’re far from having the max sacred tears in Elden Ring, but it’s still a step in the right direction.
4. Callu Baptismal Church Sacred Tear

The Sacred Tear here rests at the heart of Ailing Village in the Weeping Peninsula. Found in the church next to the village’s entrance, this spot surrounds itself with fire-based enemies. It’s tempting to rush in and collect the Sacred Tear; however, be careful of enemies that ambush you. The once-sacred walls here are now tainted with marks of fire, reflective of the rest of the village. Pace yourself, and take out the rat-like creatures one by one, if needed.
Liurnia Sacred Tear Locations

- Recommended Level: 40-50
As you explore Elden Ring’s vast and mystical open-world regions, Liuirnia of the Lakes introduces submerged structures and spellbound enemies. Here, you’ll cross paths with characters associated with the Raya Lucaria Academy and find Sacred Tears that are usually tucked away within key locations. This region also holds powerful lore for those interested in Glinstone and sorcery!
5. Church of Irith Sacred Tear

After you’ve explored Stormveil Castle and defeated Godrick the Grafted, you’ll enjoy some relaxed gameplay (you deserve it!). You can find the Church of Irith shortly after looking over Liurnia for the first time, which holds the next Sacred Tear. This one is essential for early-game progress, so don’t forget to pick it up.
6. Bellum Church Sacred Tear

Right before the Grand Lift of Dectus, you’ll come across the Bellum Church that sits at the edge of a cliff in northeastern Liurnia, offering a path forward. Regardless of the classes in Elden Ring you pick from, this place is important to progressing the story. Before you pick the Sacred Tear here, make sure to defeat the Mausoleum Knight for a chance to obtain his armor and weapon.
7. Church of Inhibition Sacred Tear

This church rests at the top of a cliff in the far northeastern region of Liurnia. This one’s hard to miss because of the madness-inducing tower (giving Eye of Sauron vibe) nearby. You’ll need to use the environment to avoid the building madness effect, and slowly traverse throughout the Frenzied Flame Village until you reach the church.
Caelid Sacred Tear Location

- Recommended Level: 50-70
This grotesque place, basking in crimson light, is challenging, especially if you’re playing solo. You’ll need to level up a bit before exploring this space. Once you do, you’ll be able to pick up more crucial Sacred Tears (and the other secrets) this place holds. Remember to always be on your guard when you’re in Caelid, as it’s home to several deadly enemies like Monstrous Dogs, Monstrous Crows, and Abductor Virgins!
8. Church of the Plague Sacred Tear

This one’s tucked away in the cliffs found in southern Caelid. The Church of the Plague is as eerie as its name suggests and surrounds itself with rot-stained surfaces and gates sealed by magic. Before you reach the Sacred Tear, you’ll first have to traverse Sellia, Town of Sorcery. You’ll need to light the braziers found in Sellia to unlock a gate that lets you follow a path through the cliffs.
Here’s how to light up the three braziers. To do so, you’ll have to show off some platforming skills with some of Torrent’s help:
- Brazier 1: This is next to the main gate barrier. First, jump and walk through a twisted tree structure. Use Torrent to help you make the leap!
- Brazier 2: From the starting point, follow the rooftops until you reach the base of another tower. The large tree branches guide you from one place to the next. When you reach the roof, climb up the ladder and light this brazier.
- Brazier 3: For the final one, move your camera until you spot the nearest tower, and jump across the rooftops to reach it. Light the third brazier, and you will unlock the barriers in the town.
Once you light all the braziers, the gate at the top of the stairs will unlock and you can continue up to Church of the Plague — and an important NPC.
Altus Plateau Sacred Tear Locations

- Recommended Level: 70-80
Atlus Plateau is a mountainous region filled with fantastical architecture and terrifying Lyndell knights. These offer challenging encounters that are easier to beat when you play online, and the location is also home to two Sacred Tears.
9. Second Church of Marika Sacred Tear

In the central region of Atlus Plateau, this church sits west of the Atlus Highway Junction Site of Grace. You’ll also find an NPC invasion (Eleonara, Violet Bloody Finger) event here, so be prepared for the fight before you claim the Sacred Tear. Make sure you’re around level 50 when battling Eleonora’s invasion!
10. Stormcaller Church Sacred Tear

This Sacred Tear location is in the northern regions of Atlus Plateau, resting between cliffs northwest of the Rampartside Path Site of Grace. Although the place has many tough enemies, the church itself is safe and peaceful, allowing you to take a break before embracing the chaos of the world again.
Mountaintop of the Giants Sacred Tear Locations

- Recommended Level: 80-120
This harsh and frozen place is an endgame region, filled with extremely powerful enemies and deadly terrain. The Sacred Tears here are often guarded by cold winds, fire giants, and NPCs who invade you. Be careful when traversing this space.
11. First Church of Marika Sacred Tear

This Sacred Tear is in the northern areas of the Mountaintops. As you traverse the large snowy expanse, you’ll find this church at the edge of the Consecrated Snowfield. The church’s architecture reflects Marika’s own statue (in Erdtree), and its placement by the frozen lake feels like a nod at Godfrey and the fall of the Giants. Once you pick up the Sacred Tear, you can also listen to Melina reciting an echo of Marika.
12. Church of Repose Sacred Tear

Just southeast of the Fire Giant’s boss arena, you’ll find the church. The southern part of the Mountaintops is great to practice your builds in both
PvE or PvP, since it’s an endgame area where your build is strong. Once you defeat the Bloody Finger Okina (invasion), you’re free to pick the Sacred Tear. Oh, and don’t forget to try out the Rivers of Blood katana you get from the enemy.
