Plarium Blog Gaming Knowledge League of Legends (LoL) Tier List: What’s OP in Patch 14.24
Image displaying characters from each role tier list

There aren’t many gamers out there who don’t know the name League of Legends. LoL has been around since 2009 and is generally regarded as one of the most influential games in the MOBA genre, and certainly one of the most popular games in the world.

That said, LoL’s nature as one of the most competitive and frustrating online games can make it very difficult to learn when you’re new to the MOBA world. The roster contains a myriad of champions to master. The gameplay requires a strategic and collaborative approach, and each role requires specific champions.

We’ve assessed and ranked champions by position: top lane, jungle, mid lane, bot lane, and support to create an accurate and fair LoL champion tier list. We’ll take a closer look at the top champions and fan favorites of Runeterra, their role, what they can do, and how they measure up against other champions in the current LoL meta. Each character is ranked on a scale of S+ (highest) to D (lowest) so you know what’s currently working and what you should play on each corner of Summoner’s Rift.

Those who know League of Legends know that champions go up and down in value and efficiency depending on each patch’s changes. The champions we highlight in this post include fan favorites that remain timeless and efficient once you’ve mastered them.

League of Legends Tier List Breakdown and Criteria

S+Otherwise known as God tier, these champions’ abilities, stats, and runes position them as extremely efficient in their role regardless of the enemy team’s composition
SChampions who are positioned to perform splendidly in the current meta depending on team composition and player knowledge and skill
ABalanced champions who excel in their role but may be challenging to play depending on team composition and enemy counters
BChampions who can secure victory with the right amount of skill and strategy; B-tier champions aren’t weak but are very situational and require in-depth champion knowledge
CChampions who are neither completely underpowered nor overly powerful; they require a high amount of skill and luck to consistently secure wins
DChampions with a low rate of victory/success who are currently underwhelming; these picks are typically heavily countered by most champions in the current meta

Irelia (S+)

Irelia remains an absolute menace in the top lane thanks to her crazy mobility, sustain, and quick attack tempo. A popular pick in pro eSports events, Irelia’s kit gives way to some really creative gameplay. Her Bladesurge (Q) is what makes her so slippery — it resets on marked targets, so she can dash around like a pinball, farming minions and dodging skill shots while closing in on enemies.

Defiant Dance (W) gives her some tankiness, blocking damage and allowing her to outlast opponents in a fight. A subtle amount of tankiness is necessary for the top lane since most matchups feature tanky champions like Aatrox, Garen, and Malphite.

Her Flawless Duet (E) is where the real outplay potential comes in — land the stun, and you can set up a deadly all-in, or pull apart champions that dared get too close. Then there’s Vanguard’s Edge (R), which not only chunks enemies but also creates a blade prison, forcing enemies to fight on her terms. While they can still walk out of the area, they’ll be slowed and likely play right into Irelia’s hands. If she gets ahead, she becomes nearly unstoppable.

Verdict: Irelia is a high-skill champ, but if you put in the time, she’s insanely rewarding. She has strong laning, snowballs super hard, and can carry games solo once mastered.

Skill priority: QWE

Warwick (S+)

While a jungler at heart, Warwick also excels in the top lane. It also helps that he’s able to stand up to quite a few top lane champions in 1v1 fights. He’s a sustain-heavy, dueling powerhouse you don’t want coming after you at low HP.

He can outlast most bruisers in extended fights, and he’s one of the best champs for punishing aggressive opponents. His passive healing on attacks makes every trade feel winnable, and his chase potential — especially when enemies have low HP — can be scary. If an enemy so much as dips below half health, you’ll be zooming at them like a horror movie monster.

What makes Warwick so strong is how hard he is to kill. He shrugs off poke, heals like crazy, and can fear enemies to turn fights in his favor. His ultimate lets him lock down squishy targets, which is always satisfying when you’re diving the enemy backline.

Verdict: Warwick is one of the easiest top laners to pick up right now, but he still has plenty of outplay potential. He wins most melee matchups, doesn’t need to rely on mana, and scales into a tanky, unkillable menace, an S+ for any day.

Skill priority:EQ → W

Darius (S+)

If there’s one champion who defines “lane bully,” it’s Darius. He takes some getting used to — his abilities are straightforward, but handling his range, landing his pull, and effectively weaving abilities together can take some time. But once you find your rhythm, you can be unstoppable, which places him firmly as a top contender in the LoL top lane tier list.

His passive lets him stack bleed damage on enemies, and once he gets five stacks, he gains a massive damage boost that turns him into a wrecking ball. His trades hit like a truck, and if he lands his axe pull, you’re in for a bad time. He’s a nightmare to gank, too — if he turns on you and your jungler, there’s a good chance he’s walking away with a double kill instead of dying.

Verdict: Darius is one of the best solo queue champs in the game. He’s easy to learn, punishes mistakes hard, and snowballs quickly. If you can get ahead in lane, you can carry games on your own.

Skill priority:QE → W

Aatrox (S+)

Aatrox’s recent rework was a big shift from his original identity, and opinions on it are pretty split. The old Aatrox was a simple, auto attack-based champion that just kind of existed, but the rework turned him into a more complex, ability-focused bruiser.

The new design has a lot more depth; his Q combos require decent timing and precision to deal real damage. He’s not just a mindless auto attacker anymore, and his ultimate turns him into a “raid boss” for teamfights. But let’s be honest — if you mess up your combos or get hit with hard crowd control (CC), you’ll feel completely useless.

Aatrox is another champion who needs some practice to master. His tempo is very important if you want to hit every ability and land your entire combo. When he gets going, however, he can pick apart entire teams. If you’re playing Aatrox, take your time snowballing. If you’re playing against Aatrox, just try not to fight him alone.

Verdict: Aatrox is strong and has a lot of sustain, but he really requires you to pay attention to his combos and positioning. If you’re comfortable with his kit, he can be great. But if you mess up, you’ll quickly find yourself on the back foot.

Skill priority:QW → E

Maokai (S+)

Maokai is one of those champions who’s always been a reliable pick in the right hands, and in the current meta, he’s found his place as one of the most annoying tanks to deal with. Whether in the jungle or top lane, Maokai brings crowd control and durability to the table in a way that just doesn’t let enemies breathe.

To play Maokai to his full potential, you need to get used to his Twisted Advance (W). Since it makes you untargetable, it can be a useful tool to dodge certain abilities and ultimates. It also roots targets that you attach to, giving you and your team the time needed to finish the enemy off. Since his Q knocks enemies back, Maokai’s combo often entails using W first, then knocking enemies back into your own team for some secluded punishment.

His crowd control in both lane and teamfights can turn the game, especially when used to catch out squishier targets or disrupt the enemy’s backline. He’s tanky enough to outlast most opponents, especially when you’re up against champions who rely on burst or poke damage.

And while his saplings might seem like an underwhelming ability, you should spam it as often as you can. It’s one of the most irritating abilities that’s sure to get your enemies frustrated and careless.

Verdict: Maokai’s a perfect pick if you’re looking for a tank with reliable crowd control and decent sustain. He’s easy to play but still has enough depth to make a huge impact in every fight.

Skill priority:QW → E

Malphite (S+)

Malphite is simple, tanky, and has one of the most satisfying ultimates in the game. Right now, he’s thriving in the meta as a rock-solid (literally) pick against AD-heavy teams. He’s one of the best counters to auto attack-reliant bruisers and ADCs, thanks to his passive armor scaling. If you’re tired of dealing with fed Yasuo and Yone players, Malphite is your best friend.

His playstyle is as straightforward as it gets: Sit back, absorb damage, poke with your Q, and wait for the perfect moment to unleash Unstoppable Force. His ultimate is game-changing — if you hit multiple enemies, you can single-handedly swing a fight in your favor. Malphite doesn’t need a lead to be effective, and even if he falls behind, he still brings major utility just by existing as a frontliner with one of the best engages in the game.

Verdict: Malphite is one of the easiest tanks to pick up and play, but his impact is undeniable. Whether you’re peeling for your team or diving into the enemy backline, he’s a strong pick in almost any situation.

Skill priority:QE → W

Riven (S+)

Riven can be a frustrating champion to learn. No matter how much you play this champion, you’ll always feel like you’re barely scratching the surface of her potential. She’s all about high-skill expression, fast combos, and mobility. But if you take the time to learn her animation cancels and combos, she’s one of the most rewarding champions to play.

She can dash with her E three times and her Q twice. She can knock champions up, stun enemies, and activate her sword to send out a ranged slash known for taking down players who think they’ve made it out.

Riven is uniquely positioned to suppress enemies long enough for her to slowly slash down their health. Her playstyle revolves around fluidly weaving together her abilities to maximize damage and mobility. She has no mana costs, meaning she can spam abilities freely, and her shield lets her trade aggressively without taking much damage in return.

Verdict: Riven is incredibly strong but requires a high level of mechanical skill. If you’re willing to put in the time, she can solo-carry games with her insane outplay potential.

Skill priority:QE → W

Jungle Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the jungle lane.
TierCharacter
S+Graves, Warwick, Shaco, Nocturne, Skarner, Kha’Zix, Karthus, Bel’Veth, Kayn, Elise
SWukong, Master Yi, Hecarim, Udyr, Kindred, Ekko, Nunu & Willump
ARammus, Evelynn, Briar, Fiddlesticks, Rek’Sai, Jarva IV, Gwen, Talon, Ivern, Zyra, Xin Zhao, Taliyah
BQiyana, Dr. Mundo, Zed, Volibear, Pantheon, Shyvana, Diana, Viego, Poppy, Jax
CAmumu, Lilia, Teemo, Rengar
DNidalee, Zac, Sylas, Sejuani, Vi, Gragas, Lee Sin, Ambessa

Graves (S+)

At the top of the LoL jungler tier list, Graves is one of those junglers that feels like he’s playing a different game. He’s not your typical gank-heavy jungler — he’s more like a mobile ADC that happens to farm the jungle. His unique shotgun mechanics, where his auto attacks fire in a cone and knock back jungle camps, let him clear quickly and safely. Right now, he’s thriving because of his ability to duel most other junglers, farm efficiently, and scale into a late-game carry.

Graves’ shotgun is simple and absolutely ridiculous. You’ll deal more damage if you’re up close and personal with your enemy since all three slugs connect. If you build items that maximize your critical damage and critical hit percentage, you’ll be able to decimate anyone 20 minutes into the game. That said, Graves is fairly squishy, and a tanky opponent can be tricky, so learning how to use his dash and his smoke screen can be the difference between life and death.

His playstyle revolves around kiting camps, invading enemy jungles, and taking smart fights. Unlike many junglers, he doesn’t rely on crowd control — his strength comes from raw damage, mobility, and survivability thanks to his True Grit passive. A good Graves player knows when to commit to fights and when to farm up for key item spikes.

Verdict: Graves is an aggressive, farm-heavy jungler who rewards players with strong macro and mechanics. If you like the idea of a jungle ADC that can out-duel most enemies, he’s one of the best picks for you.

Skill priority:QE → W

Warwick (S+)

We already talked about Warwick as a top laner, but let’s be real — his true home is in the jungle, and he consistently dominates the LoL jungle tier list. His kit is practically built for it, with strong sustain, fast clears, and one of the best early-game dueling potentials in the role. His W as a passive makes tracking down low-health enemies ridiculously easy, and once he smells blood, there’s almost no escaping him.

Warwick thrives in the jungle because of how safe and consistent he is. He doesn’t need perfect clears, doesn’t rely on leashes, and can go for early skirmishes without much risk. His ultimate gives him a great way to lock down high-priority targets no matter how far back they might be.

Verdict: Warwick is a beginner-friendly jungler with serious dueling power and great sustain. He might not be the flashiest pick, but if you enjoy chasing down enemies and healing through fights, he’s an easy S+ choice.

Skill priority:WQ → E

Shaco (S+)

Shaco seems to always find his way to the top of the LoL jungle tier list. A nightmare for anyone who doesn’t ward properly, Shaco’s playstyle is all about deception, sneaky ganks, and making the enemy question every move they make. A good Shaco player is unpredictable. If you’re playing the champion right, enemies will be in a constant state of paranoia since you can be nearly anywhere around them and they wouldn’t even know.

His ability to gank from unconventional angles, thanks to his temporary invisibility, makes him one of the most frustrating champions to play against. His early-game impact is insane, and once he gets ahead, he can completely take over a game by deleting squishy targets and setting up his signature jack-in-the-box traps for the ultimate inconvenience.

If you use his clone right, you can hold objectives really well, but keep in mind that once Shaco falls behind, it becomes very difficult to catch up.

Verdict: Shaco is an S+ pick for those who love mind games and aggressive, high-reward plays. He’s not easy to master, but when played well, he can make the enemy team miserable.

Skill priority:WE → Q

Nocturne (S+)

Nocturne stands out with his ultimate, which lets him shut down vision and dive onto squishy targets from a ridiculous distance. Early on, he farms well with his passive’s healing and AoE damage, but once he hits level six, he becomes a major threat across the map — perfect for initiating teamfights.

He’s a fan favorite because of how well he punishes mispositioned enemies. His ability to dive onto the backline, combined with his spell shield, makes him hard to deal with in skirmishes.

If he gets an early lead, he becomes a terrifying presence in teamfights and split-pushing scenarios. The downside? If his ult is on cooldown, his impact drops significantly, and he’s vulnerable to strong early-game junglers who can invade him before he scales up.

Verdict: Nocturne is an S+ pick for players who love aggressive, dive-heavy junglers. He’s incredibly strong in solo queue, where his ult can exploit bad positioning, but he does rely on good decision-making to stay ahead.

Skill priority:QE → W

Kha’Zix (S+)

Kha’Zix is the ultimate assassin. He’s amazing in the jungle, thanks to his ability to isolate and delete enemies in an instant. His passive rewards careful positioning, and his evolution choices let him adapt to different situations so you can improve your range, mobility, and invisibility. So if the game calls for a sneaky assassin, you can be invisible for a bit longer. If the game calls for a ranged poking machine, you can evolve your ranged attack.

The key to Kha’Zix’s strength is isolation. His Q does bonus damage against lone targets, making him one of the best assassins for punishing greedy enemies who wander off alone. His stealth lets him reposition in fights, dodge vision, and surprise opponents. However, he struggles against coordinated teams that group up and deny him easy kills. He’s also reliant on good execution. If you jump in and fail to secure a kill, you’re often dead on the spot.

Verdict: Kha’Zix is an S+ assassin for players who excel at tracking enemy movements and punishing mistakes. He’s devastating in solo queue, where enemies are more likely to misposition, but he requires smart decision-making to avoid getting shut down.

Skill priority:QW → E

Wukong (S)

Wukong is hands-down one of the best jungle picks, thanks to his strong early skirmishing, deceptive mobility, and team-fighting prowess. You can outplay enemies with his clone and use it to dodge skill shots. In the current meta, where teamfights decide games, Wukong thrives by diving the backline, disrupting enemies, and soaking up damage while dishing out plenty of his own.

His jungle clear is solid, but what makes him strong is his ability to gank effectively and snowball ahead of the enemy. With his E’s gap closer and his clone for dodging CC, he can dive into fights and escape when needed. The fact that you can activate his ult twice in quick succession makes him a really good combat initiator and a solid pick to set up teammates for easy kills.

He works especially well with teams that have follow-up engage. His only real weakness is that if he falls behind, he struggles to make an impact, as he relies on his stats and durability to survive fights.

Verdict: Wukong is a strong jungle pick that rewards aggressive play and smart positioning. He has a high impact in fights, but he does require good decision-making to get the most out of his clone and ult.

Skill priority:QE → W

Mid Lane Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the mid lane.
TierCharacter
S+Viktor, Vex, Irelia
SAhri, Katarina, Galio, Anivia, Kassadin, Akshan, Malzahar
ATaliyah, Fizz, Cassiopeia, Lissandra, Lux, Xerath, Talon, Qiyana, Zoe, Diana, Ekko,  Vel’Koz, Malphite, Naafiri, Ryze, Neeko, Akali, Kayle, Gragas, Veigar, Aurelio Sol, Cho’Gath, Aurora
BAnnie, Pantheon, Syndra, Hwei, Ambessa, Vladimir, Swain, Ziggs, Twisted Fate, Corki, Tristana
COrianna, Azir, Sylas, Jayce
DZed, Leblanc, Yasuo, Smolder, Yone

Viktor (S+)

Viktor is one of the best mid lane control mages right now, offering insane scaling, strong wave clear, and high burst potential. His early game can feel a bit sluggish since he needs time to upgrade his Hex Core, but once he gets his evolutions rolling, he becomes a late-game monster.

He was reworked after the second season of “Arcane” was released — a very anticipated rework given his weight and significance in the TV show’s lore.

His laser poke makes laning against him annoying, and once he hits his power spikes, his burst can delete squishier targets instantly. Viktor excels in drawn-out fights where he can land multiple spells and zone enemies with his gravity field. His ultimate is a huge teamfighting tool, dealing consistent damage and forcing opponents to reposition. The only real downside is that he lacks mobility, meaning positioning is key — if he gets caught, he’s usually dead.

Verdict: Viktor is one of the best mid lane mages for players who enjoy a scaling playstyle. He rewards patience and good positioning, and once he hits his late-game power spikes, he’s a nightmare to deal with.

Skill priority:EQ → W

Vex (S+)

Vex is a mid lane mage who has really come into her own in the current meta, offering both solid poke and impressive burst damage. Her passive shields her after hitting an enemy with her abilities, which helps her survive in-lane and trade effectively. Her Q poke is consistent, and once she unlocks her R, Vex can initiate teamfights or pick off stragglers with her wide-range AoE damage. Her W, a dash combined with a fear, also gives her great peel potential and mobility in fights.

Vex plays a game of patience, waiting for the enemy to wear themselves out fighting the rest of the team before coming in to clean up whatever is left behind. She can close distances incredibly fast, and if you’re not careful, you can be caught unaware.

Verdict: Vex is a solid pick for players who enjoy burst damage, poke, and teamfight presence. She’s easy to pick up and can perform well at all skill levels, especially if you know how to properly position her in fights.

Skill priority:QW → E

Irelia (S+)

While Irelia is traditionally known for her dominant presence in the top lane, she’s also been making waves in the mid lane recently, thanks to her mobility and ability to play aggressively. Irelia thrives when she’s able to go in and out of fights quickly, using her passive to reset her abilities after landing successful hits and her Q to dash in for trades.

Her E is perfect for punishing enemies who try to engage on her or for locking down squishy targets, while her R is a great tool for teamfights, especially when enemies are grouped up or when she can secure resets on multiple enemies.

With a combination of sustained damage, mobility, and crowd control, she can carry a game in the right hands. Her laning phase requires good management of her abilities, as positioning and timing are crucial to surviving early skirmishes. In the current meta, she can still struggle against certain tanky champions, but with the right build, she can duel even the toughest of opponents.

Verdict: Irelia is a top-tier pick for players who enjoy high mobility, outplay potential, and skillful mechanical play. Her strengths make her a solid choice at high levels of play, though her success heavily relies on positioning and ability mastery.

Skill priority:QW → E

Ahri (S)

Ahri has always been a fan-favorite mid lane pick thanks to her versatile kit and strong roaming potential. Her charm, the hallmark of her ability set, allows her to control enemy positioning and set up devastating combos.

Her ability to roam, especially post-level six with her ultimate, makes her a major threat across the map. She fits well into most team compositions due to her damage, crowd control, and utility, but she does have a skill ceiling — while she’s beginner-friendly in terms of abilities, maximizing her damage and effectiveness requires precision with skill shots and good map awareness. On the surface, the strategy seems simple: Land your charm, land your combo, then land your ult. But all of Ahri’s abilities require good aim.

Verdict: Ahri is a balanced and reliable pick for players at all skill levels, with a high skill ceiling that rewards map awareness and well-timed abilities. She performs well in a variety of scenarios but requires a lot of practice and skill.

Skill priority:QW → E

Katarina (S)

As one of League of Legends’ oldest champions, Katarina holds a special place in many LoL players’ hearts. With her Q for poke and lane pressure and her E for mobility, Katarina excels in short bursts of high damage. Her W sets up her next attack for maximum effectiveness, while her R can quickly decimate grouped enemies, especially after she’s accumulated resets from taking down enemies.

Katarina is a high-mobility champion, which means you’ll need to be aware of how her abilities work and how to best use them to maximize damage while minimizing time spent within the enemy’s range.

When played correctly, she can easily snowball out of control, turning a small lead into a game-changing advantage. However, she’s notoriously difficult to master due to her reliance on combos and timing.

Katarina doesn’t fit into every team composition, as she can be very vulnerable to CC and requires a lot of positioning to fully capitalize on her burst potential. She excels in mid-to-late game teamfights and can shred squishy backliners, but she’s very dependent on the flow of the game and the skill of the player behind her.

Verdict: Katarina is an extremely high-potential champion who thrives in skilled hands. She’s best suited for players who enjoy executing fast-paced, combo-heavy gameplay and can handle her fragile nature in exchange for high burst damage.

Skill priority:QE → W

Galio (S)

Galio is perfect for players who prefer a tanky mid laner. While mid laners traditionally tend to be squishy with high damage output, Galio breaks that mold by bringing some Demacian tankiness into the fight.

In the current meta, Galio is especially effective against squishy mages and ranged champions in the mid lane, as his tankiness and engage options make him difficult to poke out of lane. His ultimate can also be a game-changer since it can move him across the map to join a fight before it ends.

While he’s not a hyper-carry or damage dealer, his utility in protecting carries and disrupting enemies makes him an extremely valuable pick for a supportive playstyle. That said, he can struggle when unable to engage or when his team lacks coordination.

Verdict: Galio is a unique mid laner experience that substitutes the usual squishy nature with a tanky presence and CC. He can cross the map and reposition quickly to support the team.

Skill priority:QW → E

Bot Lane (ADC) Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the bot lane (ADC).
TierCharacter
S+Draven, Ashe, Corki, Nilah, Viktor
SKog’Maw, Jinx, Miss Fortune, Vayne, Karthus, Hwei, Sivir
AYasuo, Lux, Seraphine, Swain, Xayah, Ziggs, Twitch, Brand, Tristana, Veigar
BZeri, Lucian
CVarus
DKalista, Jhin, Samira, Smolder, Aphelios, Kai’Sa, Ezreal, Caitlyn

Draven (S+)

Perhaps one of the most engaging champions in League of Legends, Draven moves, acts, and speaks as if the world revolves around him. While that bravado is born out of Noxian ego, he delivers on the promise with some of the most amazing ADC displays in the game.

In the current meta, Draven dominates the bot lane as a bully who can snowball out of control if fed early — he’s one of the most memorable champions on the LoL ADC tier list. His ability to dish out ridiculous amounts of damage with his axes makes him incredibly threatening. If you’re thinking of picking up Draven, you should practice catching his axes after he throws them since that refreshes the ability and you don’t need to use it again. This will help you conserve mana and last long enough into fights to make a difference.

One of the most common ways to fight Draven is to let him run out of mana before attacking him, so be wary of that strategy when you play him.

Verdict: A diva and a crowd-pleaser through and through, Draven is all about showmanship, and his abilities mirror that. Played correctly, Draven can zone out the entire bot lane and deter any ganks.

Skill priority:QW → E

Ashe (S+)

One of the original 50 champions, Ashe has left a mark on League of Legends that won’t go away, no matter how many new mechanically advanced or tricky champions with flashy abilities are released. Ashe brings a simplicity to League of Legends that seems to still work despite years of being overshadowed by younger champions.

Ashe excels as a safe, consistent pick, particularly in team compositions that require a reliable utility-based sharpshooter. While not the highest burst damage dealer, she provides excellent zone control, kite potential, and crowd control through her arrow.

Her role is to poke, peel, and set up teammates for success, often serving the backbone of the team’s frontline as she consistently dishes out damage from a safe distance. Ashe can scale well into the late game, offering significant teamfight presence, but her effectiveness relies on positioning, timing, and map awareness.

Verdict: Ashe is a great pick for players who enjoy a more strategic, controlled playstyle. She requires good positioning and awareness to be maximally effective, making her a solid choice for players at all levels who can manage her utility and play with her long-range potential.

Skill priority:WQ → E

Corki (S+)

Though originally a mid laner, Corki finds himself comfortable on the LoL ADC tier list. In the current meta, Corki is a highly contested pick in the mid lane thanks to his ability to consistently deal damage from range while engaging or disengaging when needed.

His strong scaling into the late game with items like Trinity Force and Muramana gives him a terrifying presence. While Corki can be squishy and requires good positioning, his high poke damage and excellent scaling make him a significant threat as the game progresses.

You need to carefully manage his R and W to maximize his impact in skirmishes and teamfights, where he can kite and dish out damage from a safe distance.

Verdict: Corki is an incredibly solid choice for players who enjoy poke-heavy, mobile champions who scale well into the late game.

Skill priority:QE → W

Nilah (S+)

Nilah is one of the newer champions on the roster, a highly dynamic bot laner who thrives in extended teamfights. The longer Nilah fights, the higher her chances of success. Her kit is designed to focus on healing, mobility, and damage scaling.

While she may struggle against highly ranged or poke-heavy compositions early on, once she starts to scale and finds her groove in fights, her ability to out-sustain opponents in prolonged engagements makes her a terrifying force in the late game. Her unique mechanics and high skill ceiling make her rewarding for players who can execute her abilities properly, though she requires good map awareness and team coordination.

Verdict: Nilah is a highly effective champion when players understand her kit and can time her abilities for maximum impact.

Skill priority:QE → W

Viktor (S+)

We already covered Viktor in the mid lane section, but he’s worth mentioning again because of how strong he is in the bot lane as well.

As a control mage, he brings great wave clear, zoning, and scaling, and he really shines in longer fights where he can poke, reposition, and land his full combo. His early game is a little slow, but if he gets past the laning phase without falling behind, he becomes one of the hardest-hitting members of the team.

Verdict: Viktor rewards patience and smart positioning. He might feel sluggish early on, but once he gets his Hex Core upgrades, he’s very effective in teamfights.

Skill priority:EQ → W

Support Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the support role.
TierCharacter
S+Lulu, Pyke, Tahm Kench, Poppy
SBraum, Janna, Nami, Rell, Thresh, Soraka, Senna, Karma
AMilio, Maokai, LeBlanc, Taric, Bard, Sona, Vel’Koz, Zilean, Neeko, Galio
BSylas, Zyra, Shen, Camille, Zoe, Xerath, Pantheon, Rena Glasc, Rakan, Zac, Seraphine, Shaco, Hwei, Blitzcrank
CBrand, Leona, Morgana, Alistar
DYuumi, Swain, Lux, Nautilus

Lulu (S+)

Lulu is one of the best supports in the current meta and belongs on the LoL support tier list, offering a perfect mix of peel, utility, and late-game scaling. She’s perfect as a support for hyper-carry ADCs like Jinx, Kog’Maw, or Zeri.

Her value is allowing ADCs to play aggressively while providing enough disengage to keep them safe. While she struggles against hard engage supports like Leona or Nautilus early on, her ability to protect and empower late-game carries makes her invaluable in extended fights. Whether you’re playing in solo queue or organized team play, she remains a top-tier pick.

Verdict: Lulu is one of the best support champions in the game, excelling at peeling and empowering ADCs. She’s easy to learn but requires strong positioning and awareness to be played at the highest level.

Skill priority: E→ W → Q

Pyke (S+)

Pyke is a high-risk, high-reward support who thrives on aggression, roaming, and making explosive plays. Unlike traditional supports on the LoL support tier list, Pyke scales with lethality, making him a serious damage threat while still providing utility. His Q can hook enemies into bad positions, while E stuns multiple targets if positioned correctly. However, his real game-changer is his R, an execute that resets on kills and grants extra gold to teammates, making him one of the best supports for snowballing games.

Pyke is thriving in the current meta, thanks to his ability to roam and impact multiple lanes. He’s excellent in aggressive bot lane matchups, pairing well with ADCs who have strong all-ins like Samira or Draven. His stealth from his W allows him to slip away for roams or reposition mid-fight.

Verdict: Pyke is a solo queue menace, capable of taking over games with well-timed roams and executions. He rewards aggressive, playmaking-oriented supports.

Skill priority: Q→ E → W

Tahm Kench (S+)

The king of the LoL support tier list, Tahm Kench is a tanky support with insane peel potential and surprising burst damage. His ability to negate hard engages with Devour makes him one of the best options against dive-heavy teams.

When played correctly, Tahm can reposition and create unexpected plays like swallowing an ally to save them from certain doom. In the current meta, Tahm Kench shines on teams that need a frontline support who can protect high-value carries.

Verdict: Tahm excels at saving teammates and disrupting fights, as well as taking on heavy damage. He’s not the easiest support to play optimally, but for those who master his mechanics, he can be unstoppable.

Skill priority: Q→ W → E

Nami (S)

Nami makes it on the list for simply being one of the most reliable supports in League for a very long time. Her kit is unique enough that it takes careful timing and aim to leverage her fully. Her Q is a tricky but rewarding skillshot that stuns enemies, setting up perfect engages or peeling for teammates. Her W provides both sustain and poke, bouncing between allies and enemies to heal or deal damage depending on positioning.

She pairs exceptionally well with ADCs who thrive on short trades, like Lucian or Kai’Sa, amplifying their damage output significantly. While she doesn’t have the sheer durability of tankier supports or the shield-heavy utility of someone like Lulu, her ability to poke, heal, and set up game-changing fights keeps her competitive in a variety of team comps. All in all, Nami can help an ADC scale early and get ahead of the enemy.

Verdict: Nami rewards smart positioning and precise skillshot timing, making her a high-impact champion at all levels of play.

Skill priority: W→ E → Q

How To Get Better at League of Legends

Games like League of Legends can be demanding. Playing champions out of the LoL champion tier list isn’t enough to climb the ranks. Improving in League of Legends isn’t just about mechanics — it’s about decision-making, teamwork, and game awareness.

The reality is that the more you play your favorite champions, the better you’ll get at their style of play. It’s like learning how to play different RPG classes; through repetitive practice, you’ll learn how to move optimally on each champion, use their kit, and refine your League of Legends game for higher ranks.

For example, if you find yourself getting upset or frustrated during games, consider reading more about how to deal with gamer rage to keep your head in the game.

  • Use pings to communicate with your team: This is important for MOBA games, co-op games, and most team-based titles. Not everyone types in chat (and let’s be honest, sometimes that’s for the best). Playing games with friends or strangers online means communication is key. Using pings to alert teammates about enemy movements, missing champions, or incoming fights keeps everyone on the same page without needing to type mid-game.
  • Synchronize your offense: Diving into a fight alone is a fast-track to the gray screen. Wait for your team, layer your CC, and time your engages so your team can follow up rather than watch you get deleted.
  • Don’t get baited into an ambush: In MOBA games, if an enemy is overextending with no vision, chances are they’re not actually alone. Always consider the possibility of a trap before chasing down a “free” kill.
  • Keep an eye on the mini map: The mini map is your best friend. Checking it regularly helps you track enemy movements, spot potential ganks, and position yourself better for fights and objectives.
  • Weigh objectives against the risk: Just because Baron or Dragon is up doesn’t mean you have to take it. If your team isn’t in position or the enemy is closing in, it’s better to disengage than to force a bad fight. This is a recurring theme in MOBA games, in which small victories can be worth the patience and planning.
  • Help your jungler: A struggling jungler means a struggling team. Offer assistance when they invade, ward key jungle entrances, and don’t leave them to fend for themselves when contesting objectives. A little backup goes a long way.
