Plarium Blog MOBAs League of Legends (LoL) Tier List: What’s OP in Patch 25.22
Image displaying characters from each role tier list

Since its inception in 2009, League of Legends (LoL) has become a pioneer in the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre. With a variety of rules and mechanics that make it globally popular, LoL can feel deeply competitive and rewarding in the right hands. While this alone makes it one of the most popular games in the world, it’s the champions that make the experience stand out.

In this curated LoL tier list, we’ve ranked champions by their position, ranging from S+ to D, and their recommended skill priority. This will help you easily navigate Summoner’s Rift, especially with the latest meta changes. In the newest patch, Ahri, Zaahen, and Ambessa shook things up post-Worlds meta, while Caitlyn and Kai’Sa saw significant nerfs.

How we came up with this list

To compile our tier lists, we evaluate data from top-rated stats websites and community opinions, leveraging our expertise as gamers and developers to bring you the most accurate and helpful information.

League of Legends Tier List Breakdown and Criteria

S+Otherwise known as God tier, these champions’ abilities, stats, and runes position them as extremely efficient in their role regardless of the enemy team’s composition
SChampions who are positioned to perform splendidly in the current meta depending on team composition and player knowledge and skill
ABalanced champions who excel in their role but may be challenging to play depending on team composition and enemy counters
BChampions who can secure victory with the right amount of skill and strategy; B-tier champions aren’t weak but are very situational and require in-depth champion knowledge
CChampions who are neither completely underpowered nor overly powerful; they require a high amount of skill and luck to consistently secure wins
DChampions with a low rate of victory/success who are currently underwhelming; these picks are typically heavily countered by most champions in the current meta

Top Lane Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the top lane.
TierCharacter
S+Irelia, Malphite, Singed, Kayle, Garen, Yorick, Illaoi
STeemo, Quinn, Heimerdinger

BRenekton, Teemo, Gragas, Dr. Mundo, Vladimir, Gangplank, Swain, Zac, Tahm Kench, Rek’Sai, Kayn, Varus, Trundle, Smolder, Fiora

DYasuo, K’Sante, Jayce, Yone, Wukong, Akali, Poppy, Ryze, Aurora, Gnar, Volibear, Rumble, Kennen, Gwen, Master Yi, Camille, Darius, Aatrox

Irelia (S+)

Irelia remains an absolute menace in the top lane thanks to her crazy mobility, sustain, and quick attack tempo. A popular pick in pro eSports events, Irelia’s kit gives way to some really creative gameplay. Her Bladesurge (Q) is what makes her so slippery — it resets on marked targets, so she can dash around like a pinball, farming minions and dodging skill shots while closing in on enemies.

Defiant Dance (W) gives her some tankiness, blocking damage and allowing her to outlast opponents in a fight. A subtle amount of tankiness is necessary for the top lane since most matchups feature tanky champions like Aatrox, Garen, and Malphite.

Her Flawless Duet (E) is where the real outplay potential comes in — land the stun, and you can set up a deadly all-in, or pull apart champions that dared get too close. Then there’s Vanguard’s Edge (R), which not only chunks enemies but also creates a blade prison, forcing enemies to fight on her terms. While they can still walk out of the area, they’ll be slowed and likely play right into Irelia’s hands. If she gets ahead, she becomes nearly unstoppable.

Verdict: Irelia is a high-skill champ, but if you put in the time, she’s insanely rewarding. She has strong laning, snowballs super hard, and can carry games solo once mastered.

Skill priority: QWE

89,998,207 RAID PLAYERS GLOBALLY. JOIN THEM!

Yorick (S+)

Yorick continues to dominate the Top Lane. Much of his laning phase revolves around managing Last Rites (Q) to create Graves. Once he has some setup, landing Mourning Mist (E) becomes a death sentence for immobile laners, since it commands his Mist Walkers to leap instantly, dealing massive burst damage.

His mid-to-late game pressure is unmatched thanks to the Maiden of the Mist (R) ability. It relentlessly pushes a side lane while Yorick groups or doubles down for a powerful split-push. This forces the enemy team to send multiple players to try to stop him.

Verdict: Yorick remains a top pick, even in a LoL arena tier list, since he exploits the chaotic nature of the post-Worlds solo queue environment. If the enemy team doesn’t have a champion with high attack speed, he’ll simply run them over.

Skill priority: QE W

Illaoi (S+)

Illaoi is often considered to be the anti-meta pick due to the top lane and jungle roles often dominated by aggressive melee divers like Zaahen and Ambessa. She is defined by her Test of Spirit (E); landing this on a melee opponent effectively forces them out of a lane or guarantees free hits.

At the time of writing, her fight presence is terrifying because teams are grouping tighter to peel for nerfed ADCs. Illaoi loves this clustering, and a well-timed Leap of Faith (R) during a skirmish can wipe entire teams. In the right hands, she can win entire matches by a few tricks.

Verdict: Illaoi stays in the S+ meta in the LoL top lane tier list. She hard-counters the new champions, acting as a gatekeeper to the current changes.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Malphite (S+)

Malphite is simple, tanky, and has one of the most satisfying ultimates in the game. Right now, he’s thriving in the meta as a rock-solid (literally) pick against AD-heavy teams. He’s one of the best counters to auto-attack-reliant bruisers and ADCs, thanks to his passive armor scaling. If you’re tired of dealing with fed Yasuo and Yone players, Malphite is your best friend.

His playstyle is as straightforward as it gets: Sit back, absorb damage, poke with your Q, and wait for the perfect moment to unleash Unstoppable Force. His ultimate is game-changing — if you hit multiple enemies, you can single-handedly swing a fight in your favor. Malphite doesn’t need a lead to be effective, and even if he falls behind, he still brings major utility just by existing as a frontliner with one of the best engages in the game.

Verdict: Malphite is one of the easiest tanks to pick up and play, but his impact is undeniable. Whether you’re peeling for your team or diving into the enemy backline, he’s a strong pick in almost any situation.

Skill priority: QEW

Singed (S+)

Singed is a true master of chaos, thanks to a playstyle that allows him to create a constant state of disruption and pressure. With him, you can excel at “proxy farming”, a strategy where Singed clears minion waves behind enemy towers, forcing opponents to make a difficult choice. They either lose the tower or chase him into his lethal Poison Trail (Q). His Fling (E) is a game-changing tool that lets you hurl an enemy champion toward your team, or back to his poison trail.

His Mega Adhesive (W) lets you create an inescapable trap when timed well. However, his true power comes from being a deceptively tanky and impossible champion to catch hold of, especially once you activate his Insanity Potion (R), which boosts his stats and makes him incredibly hard to pin down. Much of his build focuses on movement speed and ability powers, allowing you to be a mobile menace who takes out foes over time.

Verdict: Singed is a promising champion for those who excel at psychological warfare and applying map pressure. His top lane plays constantly draw the opponent’s attention, and create opportunities for his team across the map.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Kayle (S+)

Kayle’s late-game carry potential shines, as the champion starts relatively weak but becomes an unstoppable force of nature as the game progresses. Her unique passive, Divine Ascent, transforms her abilities and playstyle as she levels up. She’s best for powerful AoE damage, which makes her a great hyper-carry once you reach level 16.

Her Divine Judgment (R) is the centrepiece, creating a zone of invulnerability that can save allies or turn the tide of battle during crucial moments. Managing her Radiant Blast (Q) allows for armor and magic shredding; however, only a few champions can truly match her raw DPS and teamfight impact. Her Celestial Blessing (W) is best used for sustenance, which is a key to surviving during laning phases.

Verdict: Kayle dominates the S+ tier with her unmatched scaling and game-winning ultimate opportunities in teamfights.

Skill priority: E → Q → W

Fiora (S)

As one of the most dominant top lane dualists, Fiora thrives in melee encounters with precision-based attacks. She can punish even the mightiest of tanks with her damage and mobility. Her R (Grand Challenge) ability becomes the highlight when Fiora manages to secure takedowns and allows AoE healing.

With promising abilities comes the challenge of decision-making, and Fiora requires you to constantly time her abilities in a way that synergizes with all her combat mechanics. Especially the W (Riposte) skill that should parry key abilities. High-skill, high-reward!

Verdict: Fiora is a top-notch split pusher for mechanically confident players who love dominating the side lane while focusing on 1v1 situations against enemies.

Skill priority: Q EW

Quinn (S)

Her W (Heightened Senses) further enhances her roaming capabilities by granting extra vision and attack speed, making her lethal wherever she appears. When she hits level 6 and activates R (Behind Enemy Lines), she effectively turns every side-lane into a second game, pressuring everywhere.

Quinn is a high‑tempo top laner with unmatched roaming power and lane dominance. Her Q (Blinding Assault) provides strong poke and harass, especially against melee champions. At the same time, E (Vault) allows her to disengage or quickly transition from lane into mid or bot for surprise plays. In this meta, Quinn’s roaming prowess is exceptionally strong because she snowballs faster through map movement than most top laners.

This resurgence stems from item buffs to on-hit builds and the slower patch environment, giving her the tempo to capitalize on early advantages across the map.

Verdict: Quinn’s ability to bully lane before collapsing into other lanes makes her a dominant S‑tier pick for laners who excel at mobility and map control.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Jungle Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the jungle lane.
TierCharacter
S+Warwick, Briar, Diana, Amumu, Kayn, Nocturne, Jax, Rammus, Dr. Mundo
SMaster Yi, Ekko
AFiddlesticks, Jarvan IV, Elise, Viego, Nunu & Willump, Mordekaiser, Nasus, Kha’Zix, Shyvana, Morgana, Xin Zhao
BEvelynn, Wukong, Amumu, Zac, Udyr, Talon, Kindred, Jarvan IV, Trundle, Tryndamere, Bel’Veth, Volibear, Rek’Sai, Sejuani, Gragas
CLilia, Teemo, Naafiri, Kayn, Nocturne
DSylas, Vi, Gragas, Ambessa, Gwen, Poppy, Rengar, Karthus, Graves, Zed, Ivern, Zyra, Taliyah, Pantheon, Nautilus, Skarner, Lee Sin, Qiyana, Nidalee, Hecarim, Shaco

Rammus (S+)

Rammus’s Defensive Ball Curl (W) essentially turns a lot of enemies’ attacks against them. His clear speed is decent, but his value lies in his ganks; Powerball (Q) allows him to bypass common ward spots and punish over-aggressive laners who are trying to abuse new items.

The mid-game is where he becomes seriously powerful. Since the current meta relies a lot on “reset” champions (like Master Yi or Viego), Rammus shuts them down completely with a point-and-click Frenzying Taunt (E). As much as he tanks damage, he also reflects on it and tops damage charts in skirmishes.

Verdict: Rammus can often be an automatic win condition in any LoL jungle tier list, especially in situations where enemies lock into Zaahen top, Ambessa jungle, or a standard ADC.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Nocturne (S+)

Nocturne is a hard counter to the diver meta, and thus dominates the game if the opposing team shows up with Zaahen or Ambessa. While everyone is busy brawling, Nocturne’s value comes from Paranoia (R). Time this right, and the enemy team will have no option but to back down.

His build path is optimized around Experimental Hexplate and Stridebreaker. The Hexplate specifically gives him ultimate ability haste and additional movement speed after casting Paranoia. He creates a sense of “global silence” that Solo Queue teams cannot handle.

Verdict: Nocturne is S+ due to how he dictates the pace of the game. In a meta defined by high-damage carries, Nocturne is the referee who turns off the lights and separates teams.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Dr. Mundo (S+)

Zaun effectively invalidates crowd-control-heavy kits of the new meta champions. His passive, Goes Where He Pleases, is the single most valuable tool in the top lane right now. It lets him completely ignore the initial engage or knock-up from champions like Zaahen or Ambessa.

Once he completes Heartsteel, Mundo becomes a ticking time bomb. In a patch where fights are lasting longer due to durability updates, he has a lot of time to stack infinite health. His Heart Zapper (W) is particularly powerful against the current “burst” meta.

Verdict: Dr. Mundo is the ultimate “stat check” for the flashy new champions. While the other top champions are trying to execute complex combos, Mundo simply walks through their abilities and heals back the damage.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Warwick (S+)

While there are several other champions to consider as your jungle main, Warwick stays a worthwhile pick thanks to a build that is practically built for strong sustain, fast clears, and one of the best early-game dueling potentials in the role. His W as a passive makes tracking down low-health enemies ridiculously easy, and once he smells blood, there’s almost no escaping him.

Warwick thrives in the jungle because of how safe and consistent he is. He doesn’t need perfect clears, doesn’t rely on leashes, and can go for early skirmishes without much risk. His ultimate gives him a great way to lock down high-priority targets no matter how far back they might be.

Verdict: Warwick is a beginner-friendly jungler with serious dueling power and great sustain. He might not be the flashiest pick, but if you enjoy chasing down enemies and healing through fights, he’s an easy S+ choice.

Skill priority: WQ → E

Ekko (S)

Ekko is a highly versatile champion ideal for mid-jungle assassinations. He cleverly blends burst damage with mobility, especially with the Timewinder (Q) ability that lets him poke, waveclear, and slow enemies. Meanwhile, his Phase Dive (E) lets him dive in and out of fights with high precision. His Parallel Convergence (W) is often a game-changer — if you time it correctly, it stuns enemies in its zone and gives Ekko a shield.

Ekko’s ultimate, Chronobreak (R), lets him rewind to a recent location, healing him and detonating massive AoE damage. Amazing, isn’t it? This ability alone makes him incredibly tough to pin down and gives you multiple chances to escape or re-engage in battle.

Verdict: Ekko has an unmatched kit that mixes mobility, survivability, and explosive playmaking potential.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Master Yi (S)

Master Yi thrives as a hyper-carry jungler, excelling in both farming and cleaning up fights. His Alpha Strike (Q) gives him burst damage, and enemies are unable to target him, letting him dodge key abilities while tearing through opponents. With Meditate (W), Yi sustains through jungling or heals up mid-fight, making him deceptively powerful.

His Wuju Style (E) adds a lot of damage to the kit, ensuring a strong fight even against tankier champions. When you pull off his Highlander (R) during the right situations, Yi gains immense attack and movement speed, resetting cooldowns on kills or assists.

Verdict: Yi’s powerful cleanup potential and ability to dominate games keep him in the S+ tier spot, especially when paired with the right items.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Mid Lane Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the mid lane.
TierCharacter
S+Vex, Diana, Morgana, Fizz, Xerath, Malzahar, Yasuo, Veigar
SIrelia, Vladimir, Syndra, Lux, Zed, Naafiri
ALissandra, Malphite, Neeko, Annie, Kassadin, Kayle, Vel’Koz, Cassiopeia, Aurelion Sol, Talon, Ziggs, Viktor, Mel, Anivia, Brand, Heimerdinger, Swain, Sion, Kennen
BPantheon, Hwei, Ambessa, Twisted Fate, Galio, Ekko, Katarina, Akshan, Cho’Gath, Tristana
COrianna, Azir, Sylas, Jayce, Yasuo, Veigar, Ahri, Aurora
DSmolder, Yone, Ryze, Qiyana, Akali, Leblanc, Zoe, Taliyah

Fizz (S+)

Fizz is largely considered to be the only assassin who can reliably survive the current “League of Divers.” His Playful/Trickster (E) is the most valuable basic ability in the game for many players, since it allows him to completely iframe meta champions like Zaheen or Ambessa.

Not only does this waste the enemy’s abilities, but it also helps him strategize better. Fizz is now a legitimate Flex Pick between Mid and Jungle. His clear speed is remarkable, allowing him to match the tempo of meta junglers while offering gank angles that could be impossible to ward against.

Verdict: Fizz successfully exploits the low magic resist of the current meta, making her way into the LoL mid-tier list. Popular champions right now often struggle against him, letting you dominate the field.

Skill priority: E → W → Q

Xerath (S+)

Xerath has climbed the tier list since he’s the only mid-laner who can interact with the current “Deathball” meta without putting himself in danger. With someone like Zaahen and Ambessa, defining team fights with their terrifying close-range AoE, Xerath simply refuses to play by their rules.

His Rite of the Arcane (R) range allows him to soften up these juggernauts before they can even stack their passives. The recent buffs to Horizon Focus mean that landing a single Eye of Destruction (W) on a frontliner effectively shreds their resistances for his team.

Verdict: Xerath pokes champions like Zaahen down to 40% HP before the fight even starts, making him a great pick for the current meta.

Skill priority: Q → W → E

Yasuo (S+)

With traditional ADCs like Caitlyn and Kai’Sa nerfed, Yasuo has emerged as a top-tier champion for the Bot Lane. His Wind Wall (W) is currently the most valuable defensive tool in the game, as it completely invalidates the few remaining meta ranged threats.

In the mid-lane, he remains a skill-check maestro. The rise of new champions can actually benefit Yasuo, since their telegraphed, heavy-hitting animations are easy targets for a skilled Yasuo player. All you need to do is focus on the Sweeping Blade (E) to dash through animations, dodge incoming damage, and stack Lethal Tempo.

Verdict: Yasuo is a top pick for ADC in the game right now, as he ignores durability changes by simply holding down the trigger on 100% crit chance at two items.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Vex (S+)

Vex is a mid lane mage who has really come into her own in the current meta, offering both solid poke and impressive burst damage. Her passive shields her after hitting an enemy with her abilities, which helps her survive in-lane and trade effectively. Her Q poke is consistent, and once she unlocks her R, Vex can initiate teamfights or pick off stragglers with her wide-range AoE damage. Her W, a dash combined with a fear, also gives her great peel potential and mobility in fights.

Vex plays a game of patience, waiting for the enemy to wear themselves out fighting the rest of the team before coming in to clean up whatever is left behind. She can close distances incredibly fast, and if you’re not careful, you can be caught unaware.

Verdict: Vex is a solid pick for players who enjoy burst damage, poke, and teamfight presence. She’s easy to pick up and can perform well at all skill levels, especially if you know how to properly position her in fights.

Skill priority:QW → E

Morgana (S+)

Morgana makes her presence known as a support and mid-lane mage who brings utility and control to her team. Her Dark Binding (Q) ability is infamous for its duration and how it punishes enemies who misstep. Her Tormented Shadow skill provides consistent AoE damage, improving her lane presence.

Her Black Shield (E) is particularly game-defining, as it blocks magic damage and disables, protecting your team from crucial crowd control moments. Her Soul Shackles (R) turns Morgana into a teamfight threat, letting you chain multiple enemies. This ability, combined with strong support, can swing fights entirely in your favor.

Verdict: Morgana embraces her S+ tier spot thanks to reliable crowd control, protective utility, and powerful abilities.

Skill priority: Q → W → E

Diana (S+)

Diana’s AP fighting skills are well-known among casuals as well as veterans, especially in jungle and mid lane scenarios. Her Crescent Strike (Q) lets her poke and mark enemies from range. Her Lunar Rush (E) instantly closes gaps and deals powerful damage. With her Pale Cascade (W), you can use a shield and three orbiting spheres that damage nearby enemies, giving her much-needed durability.

Her Moonfall (R) is a signature ability that pulls in nearby enemies and unleashes a devastating AoE burst attack. This ultimate makes her one of the most dangerous initiators in all of League of Legends, capable of wiping out multiple targets and setting up combos with allies. With the release of patch 26.19, buffs have elevated her kit, letting her clear faster and impact fights more consistently.

Verdict: Diana secures her place as an S+ tier champion thanks to her reliable burst, durable kit, and powerful ultimate.

Skill priority: Q → W → E

Bot Lane (ADC) Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the bot lane.
TierCharacter
S+Ashe, Jinx, Samira, Miss Fortune, Smolder, Caitlyn, Nilah
SVayne, Sivir, Mel
AZiggs, Twitch, Kog’Maw, Yasuo, Veigar
BZeri, Kai’Sa, Aphelios, Senna, Jhin
CXayah, Yunara, Corki
DEzreal, Varus, Tristana, Lucian, Draven, Kalista

Ashe (S+)

One of the original 50 champions, Ashe has left a mark on League of Legends that won’t go away, no matter how many new, mechanically advanced, or tricky champions with flashy abilities are released. Ashe brings a simplicity to League of Legends that seems to still work despite years of being overshadowed by younger champions.

Ashe excels as a safe, consistent pick, particularly in team compositions that require a reliable utility-based sharpshooter. While not the highest burst damage dealer, she provides excellent zone control, kite potential, and crowd control through her arrow.

Her role is to poke, peel, and set up teammates for success, often serving the backbone of the team’s frontline as she consistently dishes out damage from a safe distance. Ashe can scale well into the late game, offering significant teamfight presence, but her effectiveness relies on positioning, timing, and map awareness.

Verdict: Ashe is a great pick for players who enjoy a more strategic, controlled playstyle. She requires good positioning and awareness to be maximally effective, making her a solid choice for players at all levels who can manage her utility and play with her long-range potential.

Skill priority: WQ → E

Jinx (S+)

Jinx continues to excel as a top-tier ADC, thanks to her excellent scaling and team fight dominance. Her gameplay style is reset-heavy, letting you enjoy a strong passive movement and attack speed after takedowns. You will notice her finesse during 5v5 fights, where she can wipe out enemies during frontline engagements.

Her kit offers a strong lane-control playstyle, even with slow early game progress. Her R (Super Mega Death Rocket!) ability improves map presence, along with sniping potential. With all this in mind, make sure you build a strategy that lets you contribute to the fight from a safe distance.

Verdict: Her early game survivability lets her take over the map slowly, keeping an ideal playstyle for players who love the thrill of resetting combos and prefer high-reward scaling over the game’s progression.

Skill priority: Q W → E

Smolder (S+)

Smolder is often considered to be the best-performing bot laner because he ignores the roles that usually hold other ADCs back. He shines because of his Super Scorcher Breath (Q), which eventually evolves into True Damage.

Flap, Flap, Flap (E) lets him fly over the terrain created by champions like Yorick or Jarvan IV, making him incredibly slippery against the popular dive compositions. The more you practice his kit, the better you can play him as a tanky battle-mage who just happens to be in the bot lane.

Verdict: Smolder is strong in the LoL ADC tier list since popular champions like Mundo and Zaahen just give him free stacks during the mid-game, eventually leading to powerful plays.

Skill priority: Q → W → E

Samira (S+)

Samira is great in the current meta, thanks to messy and close-range brawlers being busy at what they do. When this happens, Samira dives in with her beefy topside allies and uses her passive, Daredevil Impulse, to stack style effortlessly off the heavy crowd control provided by other fighters.

Her Blade Whirl (W) is critical for blocking the few high-damage projectiles that threaten her, but her real power comes from the resets on Wild Rush (E). Because of the current top champions, many enemies are left low-health but alive. This is perfect fodder for Samira to dash in, secure, execute, and clean up the rest of the team with Inferno Trigger (R).

Verdict: To the dive meta, Samira is the perfect follow-up. She doesn’t need to start the fight; she just needs to wait for distractions until she can spin in for free kills.

Skill priority: Q → E → W

Vayne (S)

Vayne thrives in patch 25.19 primarily due to buffs to on-hit itemization. Her W (Silver Bolts) capitalizes on prolonged auto‑attack trades by dealing percentage health true damage, enabling her to melt tanks in extended confrontations. Combined with excellent mobility from Q (Tumble) and invisibility stealth from R (Final Hour), Vayne becomes a nightmare in the late game.

Matchups favoring Vayne involve extended fights or catching out-of-position targets, where she shines as a mobile assassin. She struggles early against heavy poke or pressure, but once her core items come online, she outpaces most ADCs in raw DPS and split-push effectiveness. Skilled players can abuse her high-risk, high-reward kit to single-handedly carry fights.

Verdict: Vayne is a strong S-tier ADC for mechanically skilled players who enjoy scaling into the late game and have high outplay potential.

Skill priority: W → Q → E

Support Tier List

Tier list depicting the League of Legends champions for the support lane.
TierCharacter
S+Milio, Zyra, Leona, Morgana, Karma, Brand, Shaco
SJanna, Nami, Soraka, Teemo, Xerath
ALeBlanc, Bard, Vel’Koz, Zilean, Braum, Sona, Amumu, Fiddlesticks, Shen, Hwei, Seraphine, Elise, Taric, Maokai
BPantheon, Rakan, Zac, Blitzcrank, Poppy, Lulu, Rell, Galio, Zoe, Veigar, Malphite, Thresh, Swain, Lux, Renata Glasc, Sylas
CBrand, Tahm Kench, Nautilus, Miss Fortune
DYuumi, Neeko, Senna, Mel, Ashe, Alistar, Pyke

Milio (S+)

Milio is a top-tier enchanter support who empowers ADCs better than almost anyone in the game right now. His W grants bonus attack range and healing, turning ranged carries into unstoppable forces. His E provides instant shields and movement speed, making him excellent at protecting squishier teammates and repositioning during fights.

What makes Milio truly special is his ultimate, a massive AoE cleanse and heal that shuts down CC-heavy compositions. He thrives in metas where ADCs are strong and benefits from on-hit item buffs that push hyper-carries to the forefront. Milio is easy to learn and has a massive impact even without flashy mechanics.

Verdict: Milio is an S+ enchanter who excels at protecting carries and swinging teamfights with one perfectly timed ult.

Skill priority: W → E → Q

Leona (S)

Leona is arguably the best support in the game right now because she is the best partner for awesome champions like Samira and Yasuo, who synergize well with her. Her gameplay is defined by aggression; the moment she hits Level 2, her Zenith Blade (E) into Shield of Daybreak (Q) combo creates a kill window that guarantees a snowball for allies.

In team fights, she is durable enough to survive the initial burst from Zaahen or Ambessa, thanks to Eclipse (W) and Solar Flare (R). These are essential to lock down on high-mobility targets. She peels well and holds the enemy still so her team’s AoE can wipe them out.

Verdict: Leona enables broken champions and becomes the key that unlocks their potential, often becoming a mandatory pick to win 2v2 fights.

Skill priority: W → E → Q

Soraka (S)

Soraka is a top-notch healing support in the game, keeping her team alive through the worst possible scenarios. Her Starcall (Q) ability damages enemies while healing herself if it hits. Her Astral Infusion (W) is the core of her kit, directly healing allies at the cost of her own health, making her lane presence reliable and constant — a worthy sacrifice, after all.

Her Equinox (E) skill brings in a silencing zone that can root enemies if they remain inside. This offers ample opportunity for setup during skirmishes. Her ultimate, Wish (R), heals all allies on the map instantly, often changing the outcome of fights in key scenarios. Overall, her kit makes her a consistent force in most teamfights, shutting down many enemy engages.

Verdict: Soraka secures her spot in the tier list thanks to her unrivaled healing output and fight-changing ultimate.

Skill priority: W → Q → E

Nami (S+)

Nami makes it on the list for simply being one of the most reliable supports in League for a very long time. Her kit is unique enough that it takes careful timing and aim to leverage her fully. Her Q is a tricky but rewarding skillshot that stuns enemies, setting up perfect engages or peeling for teammates. Her W provides both sustain and poke, bouncing between allies and enemies to heal or deal damage depending on positioning.

She pairs exceptionally well with ADCs who thrive on short trades, like Lucian or Kai’Sa, amplifying their damage output significantly. While she doesn’t have the sheer durability of tankier supports or the shield-heavy utility of someone like Lulu, her ability to poke, heal, and set up game-changing fights keeps her competitive in a variety of team comps. All in all, Nami can help an ADC scale early and get ahead of the enemy.

Verdict: Nami rewards smart positioning and precise skillshot timing, making her a high-impact champion at all levels of play.

Skill priority: W → E → Q

Zyra (S+)

Zyra is a superb “Counter-Engage” pick thanks to her plants that exist for damage, while also blocking non-piercing skillshots of the new juggernauts in the meta. A well-placed Rampant Growth (W) seed instantly spawned into a plant can block a Zaahen Q or a Rammus Powerball, stopping their engage dead in its tracks.

Zyra’s ability to apply Liandry’s Torment and Blackfire Torch burn from a safe distance makes her the highest damage dealer in most support matchups. Her Stranglethorns (R) is the ultimate “reset button” for team fights.

Verdict: Zyra remains in the S tier because she makes the game almost unplayable for the top melee champions. She creates a “no-go zone” that forces enemies to walk through a garden of slows and shreds.

Skill priority:  E → Q → W

Janna (S+)

Janna is a powerful champion with a kit that revolves around protecting her backline with slows, shields, and disengagement tactics. She’s great at sustaining ADCs through her E (Eye of the Storm) ability, while disrupting divers with Q (Howling Gale) and R (Monsoon). Runes like Gathering Storm and Manaflow Band often favor her overall gameplay.

To excel as Janna, you need to read fights and respond accordingly. She excels at punishing enemy dives, especially when paired with powerful carriers. Her mobility aids her map awareness, letting you assist junglers as well as resetting waves when needed. As a good Janna player, you must reposition often, based on how the situation around you evolves. She’s best played around mid-to-late game scenarios.

Verdict: Janna is the perfect pick for players who value map awareness, positioning, and timing. She rewards a smart gameplay loop, allowing safe yet impactful plays.

Skill priority: W → E → R

Teemo (S)

Teemo’s Blinding Dart (Q) has become one of the most valuable basic abilities in the game, as he can completely neutralize S+-tier threats. For instance, a champion like Zaahen cannot stack his Determination passive if he is blinded, meaning he cannot revive, effectively turning a broken champion into a melee minion.

His map control with Noxious Trap (R) is also oppressive in the current objective-focused meta. Since games are dragging out a bit longer due to tankier builds, Teemo has time to turn the Dragon and Baron pits into absolute minefields.

Verdict: Teemo is a wonderful counter-pick in the present meta. If you see the enemy lock in Zaahen, Viego, or Ambessa, Teemo may just be the toughest counter available.

Biggest Winners and Losers of Patch 25.22

Patch 25.22 delivered some of the most noticeable champion shifts in recent months. The changes majorly affected the top side of the map, where new releases have pushed traditional carries out of the spotlight, while the most dominant marksmen saw their reign end with heavy nerfs.

Certain champions like Ambessa and Aatrox, who felt underutilized earlier, now shine as jungle picks thanks to “monster damage” modifiers. Meanwhile, consistent performers like Kai’Sa have taken a step back. The arrival of Zaahen has reshaped how the skirmishes play out, forcing teams to strategize around his revive mechanic. A few victorious champions:

  • Zaahen (Top/Mid): Excels at prolonged skirmishes with a revive mechanic that forgives mistakes, turning 1v2 dives into double kills.
  • Ahri (Mid): Renewed consistency, damage weaving, and mobility, making her a reliable pick.
  • Ambessa (Jungle/Top): Awesome flex potential, thanks to monster-damage buffs, turning her into a powerful jungler.
  • Jhin (ADC): Swiftly rises as the premier marksman, capitalizing on buffs to his passive and the nerfs to his direct competition.

And, some losers who have witnessed nerfs:

  • LeBlanc (Mid): Her burst rotation took a downfall with nerfs to her Q and W, making it much harder for her to one-shot backliners without a significant lead.
  • Kai’Sa (ADC): Lost her edge since the nerfs clipped her base armor and increased her Ultimate cooldown, leaving her vulnerable to the new dive meta.
  • Rek’Sai (Top): Grounded by targeted nerfs to her minion sustain, effectively forcing her out of the lane and back into the jungle.
  • Mel (Support/Mid): Struggles to maintain her “ban-or-pick” status after adjustments reduced the root duration on her E, opening up more counterplay.

How To Get Better at League of Legends

Games like League of Legends can be demanding. Playing champions out of the LoL champion tier list isn’t enough to climb the ranks. Improving in League of Legends isn’t just about mechanics — it’s about decision-making, teamwork, and game awareness.

The reality is that the more you play your favorite champions, the better you’ll get at their style of play. It’s like learning how to play different RPG classes; through repetitive practice, you’ll learn how to move optimally on each champion, use their kit, and refine your League of Legends game for higher ranks.

For example, if you find yourself getting upset or frustrated during games, consider reading more about how to deal with gamer rage to keep your head in the game.

  • Use pings to communicate with your team: This is important for MOBA games, co-op games, and most team-based titles. Not everyone types in chat (and let’s be honest, sometimes that’s for the best). Playing games with friends or strangers online means communication is key. Using pings to alert teammates about enemy movements, missing champions, or incoming fights keeps everyone on the same page without needing to type mid-game.
  • Synchronize your offense: Diving into a fight alone is a fast track to the gray screen. Wait for your team, layer your CC, and time your engages so your team can follow up rather than watch you get deleted.
  • Don’t get baited into an ambush: In MOBA games, if an enemy is overextending with no vision, chances are they’re not actually alone. Always consider the possibility of a trap before chasing down a “free” kill.
  • Keep an eye on the mini map: The mini map is your best friend. Checking it regularly helps you track enemy movements, spot potential ganks, and position yourself better for fights and objectives.
  • Weigh objectives against the risk: Just because Baron or Dragon is up doesn’t mean you have to take it. If your team isn’t in position or the enemy is closing in, it’s better to disengage than to force a bad fight. This is a recurring theme in MOBA games, in which small victories can be worth the patience and planning.
  • Help your jungler: A struggling jungler means a struggling team. Offer assistance when they invade, ward key jungle entrances, and don’t leave them to fend for themselves when contesting objectives. A little backup goes a long way.
