How To Get Red Dye in Genshin Impact

Whether you’re doing a quest solo or in co-op mode, obtaining red dye requires you to gather specific materials and craft them within the Serenitea Pot. To do so, you’ll need to go on a little adventure — action role-playing game (ARPG) style.

Collect Sunsettia, Carrots, or Valberries

Genshin Impact’s red dye requires you to first find Sunsesttia, a common fruit found throughout Teyvat. Next, you’ll have to find a Carrot, which is easily available from multiple locations. Finally, find some Valberry (commonly seen in Mondstadt).

Finding these materials feels almost like an idle game where your character will automatically be prompted to collect resources as you freely traverse the open world.

Craft Red Dye

Once you have the necessary resources, you need to unlock the Serenitea Pot housing system to get red dye in Genshin Impact. This will require you to do certain quests that naturally show up in the game.

Inside your Serenitea Pot, interact with Tubby, then select “Create Furnishing.” Choose the tab that looks like a little bottle. Obtaining red dye this way is a more tactical and creative approach to crafting than just buying it from a shop.

How To Use Red Dye

Now that you know where to get red dye in Genshin Impact, the next step is to understand how to use it. Within the Serenitea Pot, access “Create Furnishing” and select a blueprint. Whether you’re doing this on a small Android screen or a large desktop one, these designs will look promising either way.

Craft Furniture and Decoration

Once you’ve accessed the available options, you’ll notice a variety of furniture and decorations you can craft with red dye. Some of these include:

  • Economy Cuihua Bookshelf
  • Two-Tier Library Bookshelf
  • Embroidered Curtains
  • Lantern-Lit Stage: Crescendo
  • Cleansing Shrine

“On the Stage, Behind the Stage” Quest

In Liyue Harbor, you’ll be met with a quest called On the Stage, Behind the Stage. This storyline helps you dive deeper into the local narratives of the region and brings you closer to the people of its community.

Start this quest by locating Tea Master Liu Su. As he expresses his concerns regarding certain events, you’ll be tasked with finding a carpenter.

Head to Qingce Village and find Master Lu at Fanmu Carpenter. You’ll learn more about ongoing events as he recommends his apprentice, Dayu, for a job. This is where you’ll need the red dye and some pine wood.

Once you return to the tea house in Liyue Harbor, brew some tea with Yun Jin. You’ll then need to speak with Fan Er’ye, the tea house owner. This part of the quest asks you to deliver planks to Dayu.

There’s likely no major fighting involved during these steps, and once you’re done giving Dayu the needed planks, he’ll start the repairs and you’ll be done with the quest.

Other Dye Recipes and Their Uses: Blue and Yellow

In classic Japanese (or, in this case, Chinese) mobile RPG fashion, Genshin Impact has multiple crafting options for you to master. Other than the red dye, there are also the blue and yellow variants you can use.

The blue and yellow dyes are used purely for cosmetic purposes. They add to the color and richness of a decoration you choose to work on. With such added variety, your designs will have a more vibrant aesthetic and appeal.

To craft blue dye, you’ll need Mint (commonly found across Mondstadt in grassy areas) and Wolfhooks (found near Wolvendom in Mondstadt).

While running after items can feel like the ideal action adventure experience, it can also grow monotonous. So, switch it up and try crafting a yellow dye instead! This one requires Berries (found in bushes within Mondstadt and Liyue) and Cor Lapis clusters (found in the mountainous regions of Liyue).
