I sympathise, but it is intentional.

If they revealed the requirements up front, and it put people off spending now and using resources, then that is bad for them.

You have to remember plariums sole purpose is to get you to open your wallet, and one way to do that is to get you 'close but not quite' to getting the champ you want.

That's true, obviously, and I can't say that it hasn't worked on me in the past.  

But I'd think this sort of thing would deter people from long-term play.  Plarium has to make money, we all understand that, but I don't think it's in their long-term interest to run these events in a "scammish" fashion.  

I've said it before, but paying should feel like a shortcut, not the only way in.

^^ Not defending plarium but you can do every fusion as an ftp providing

1) you are getting unm top chests

2) you manage your resources like a military operation

I can do logistics like old Eisenhower, but how am I ever going to find the patience to fine-tune a decent Clan Boss team?  

Honestly most f2p that have been playing long enough (4-6 months?) to "easily" do fusions can't do it because they have terrible resource management and no ability to save shards whatsoever :) These are my clanmates lol.  They open shards every 10x, don't save refills in mailbox, don't save XP brews ONLY for fusion training events, and the list goes on.  

@devlin71 - I wasted 2 months (many months ago...) because I was too lazy to build the skullcrusher tower unkillable comp, biggest mistake I made (well picking Elhain as starter maybe...)  If you have the champs (and with all the new CB specialists you likely do), build whatever comp gets at least top UNM chest even if it takes 4 keys.  Obviously if you can 2-1-1 UNM/NM/Brutal that is the end goal...

Its just gear and getting the right champs- budget unkillable is probably the least demanding way to 2 key UNM. And you can use the free tools on hellhades to sort through your gear to get the speeds etc right.

If you dont have the champs for an unkillable, its tougher but you can still 3 or 4 key unm using a classic team (attack down, defence down, weaken poison) or with a shields team (brogni, extenders, dps, attack down)

I honestly believe that aside from being able to clear dragon 20+- having a good CB team is the most important part of the game since its where you get books and shards.

My first UNM team was Skullcrusher, Zelotah, Coffinsmasher, Brawler, Jarl.  3 keys barely lol.  No def down or weaken lol

I used to 3/4 key with jareg, draco, doompriest (i used that guy so much!) apothecary and zavia - getting fahrakin made it a safe 3 key. I pulled both draco and zavia in my first month or so of playing (i almost fed draco to kael as i thought he was rubbish lol)

But like many, pulling a maneater changed my account dramatically

As trips and Trevor already pointed out getting top chest of unm is the most important thing you can do in the game.

There are endless resources to find and setup teams for this. Use deadwoodjedi and hellades websites.

The rewards from doing so make all these fusions doable for f2p/low spenders.

Both of these are so important. Roseroyal does an amazing job with this and inspired me to do better. I want to get all of those charts in a regular post or something. :D

Also, devlin, like everyone else has mentioned, getting that clan boss team up and running is basically required to progress your account unless you are absolutely a gigantic whale.

But once you do, you'll be able to do the fusions with the rewards you recieve from UNM and NM. It's how I do them. :D

Post your champs and thoughts in a new thread and maybe we can make some comp suggestions and provide links and stuff. :)

As I mentioned I do manage my resources and I have saved boosts and gems and as I mentioned I now have 5 sacred shards.

I will need to use my most of my non sacreds to get the champion chase.  I do not have the time available to spend 1000 green shards because it takes too long to sacrifise them all!

The point of my question is that I do not want a repeat of Demytha   when I used all my hoarded resources and then get to the shard summon event to find I was 2 shards short.

I personaly think the shard events should be replaced by something that takes skill and not just a blatent way to extort cash.  If it is about beating the clan boss or doom tower then make that the target.  I am the only one in my clan who can get the UNM top chest so I only get one per day.  This has earned me 4 shards since the previous fusion

Sorry but this is not a skilled based game. It's already been said it a resource management mini game. Manage or don't. Platinum doesn't care as you can just buy your resources if you can't manage them.

I guess it depends how you want to play.  Maybe you can just pay your way through, and look up on the internet how to beat each boss and even how to build your champs.  I can tell you as FTP that the clan boss and doom tower were not trivial to win, it required careful tuning of teams of correctly chosen champions.  I am still only half way through doom tower hard.  I spent 2 weeks tuning my team with the clan boss simulators to get them to work with the champs I had available, and optimising their geer to be consitent 2 key UNM and 1 key NM with all affinities.

I do not thinnk it would be so much fun if you could just auto through everything each day and hoard resourses for events to get champions that you dont even need if you can do without skill :D

But comming back to my actual question.  I do understand the resource management, that is the point of my question.  I have hoarded my resources.  I just want to know if I can get the fragments I need using 5 sactred shards before I spend all my other resources on the events before the summoning event.  I dont want to waste my resources to get 95 fragments because the summon requires 7 sacred shards.  

Surely that question should not impact the event

depends on how many fragments you need to pull from the summon rush. if you need all of them then in all likelihood, no. in pretty much all the fragment fusions up until now, getting the final ten fragments required 3500 points in the summon rush so five sacred shards won't cut it. getting the other 10 usually only took 1070 points though roric, the most recent fragment fusion, did have a higher count at 1750 so plarium may be plannng this one the same way.

 It would be nice to know how many points we would need to get the fragments ahead of time. I just finished champion chase, I had a four epics I could summon from fragments and fusions plus the void rares from Broadmaw... btw a million silver to fuse Broadmaw? Ouch! lol

 I was still short on points, I knew I'd have to pull a few hundred mystery shards but the important matter was if I was going to use a couple dozen ancients or all 6 of my voids. Since there was a 2x on I went with the voids and was rewarded with Pain Keeper and Madame Serris which made my Halloween! :-) My arena team needs help so she'll do much more for my account than Vlad will plus she looks awesome!

 As far as Vlad goes I hope I have enough ammo for the summon rush. I've got 500 mystery shards, several dozen ancients and 3 sacreds left. I should be able to get a few hundred more mysteries and a handful more ancients by the time the event rolls around, maybe 1 sacred if I'm super lucky.

I'm pretty sure Doompriest is a girl.
