I have read the information and as I have not received any coffers yet I have a daily quest that you cannot do. Looks to me that this quest has been started before the items are freely available

Yes. 

Kate mentioned that our Mod´s team highlighted this issue to our community manager. Plarium answer was that divine item will be released in several tournaments and events so, we all hope they are going to be soon common enough to be completed as the others daily Chronos quests .

The divine items can only be earned by making the top 30 rank in some tournaments, or top 50 in the supreme league of some pvp tourneys.  (check the rankings of a tournament to see if the items are offered or not)

The tournaments do that offer these items are divided into catigories so you need to be lucky enough or scored high enough in pevious leagues to be placed in one that offers the divine coffers and not a lesser reward.  (it is not clear how it works exactly as some that have never participated in previous tournamants are placed and some that scored high in previous tournaments were not)

Moderators have posted in the game discussion topics, that you can burn items to auto finish some quests, but you forfit the rewards, and it does not count towards some events that require you to finish cronos tasks.

You can get your first item by finishing the new quest that was released when the items first became available. 

I suggest you upgrade that one to finish the quest as you can upgrade any divine item to finish the task it does not need to be a level 1 item.
