the new rewards are not for our benefit, Why not make things better instead of more profitable? Better stuff leads to better profits..a basic business concept.

Not all rewards are worth the time and effort. This one of them. A few puny tidbits for winning isn't rewarding enough to stay up late, work harder, and motivate the combine. Win or lose, not much difference.
