I have Kael (starting champion) at ascended rank 4, max level. I have a couple other champs at rank 4 too now so i should be able to sacrifice them to upgrade Kael. But when i choose another character to sacrifice, nothing happens. and all the slots around Kael in the tavern show a lock icon. What am i missing?
Do you have four other 4* champs? You need four.

Yeah I think that might have been a bug added recently. I'm 99% sure you used to be able to at least attempt to upgrade (though the end outcome is the same as currently - you wouldn't be able to).
