AFAIK, there's nothing stopping the reroll from giving the same main stat, and there is nothing stopping each substat roll from coming back exactly identical either

That seems odd. They didn't just change location in their inventory after the roll? I don't actually know the ordering system in the inventory, cause it seems to be arbitrary, but there is some kind of ordering system that moves my pieces around.
