is this possible - i have seen 3 players of 1 BH - alts of 1 who are constantly haven protected and fire ship at will - how is this possible

It is possible legally: you Fireship someone and then you immediatelly put on protection. I've seen it done to my BH as well.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no tricks/cheats/bugs for this. Of course, I could be wrong if someone found something and kept it for themselves.

I'd have to agree. Likely launching the FS then reshielding.
Might be possible some display lag also gives them the apperance of a shield for the brief minute before the reshield as well.
I checked one player's haven every day for a month waiting for the shield to drop just so I could land one.
