Is there a way of knowing how much you are taking a the time when you are actually farming the rss from a lair?

If I am understanding your question correctly , the answer is yes.
When you assign troops it tells you how much they can carry.
If you are asking about the speed (Time) it takes, well, there is a standard time for each level, which you can improve on in various ways .
Of course how much the troops can carry can also be improved , by similar means

No I am asking how much rss is being taken, when its being taken. Before the troops return.

You can watch as the resources are collected.
You can only take as much as the troops can carry.
Other than that unfortunately it seems I do not understand what you are asking, maybe someone else will.

Yea I am not sure what you are asking ... if you click on the tile you are farming you can see how much you currently have collected, how much you will ultimately collect if you allow the troops to stay on there until they come back on their own and how long it will be before they come back. You can get a lot of that info from the shrine of oden also (you have to click on the last tab and then click on each march) and also on global map you have an icon (middle bottom right) that shows your groups that are out farming ... so you can hit on that and then click on each group (shows same info as shrine of oden)
