unwanted side-effects

I said this about a year ago, and I seem to get confirmation of what I expected. Plarium wants us all to have huge armies and I'm talking billions of troops here. Of each troop type of course. That is why they introduced the new gear and that is why league of asgard challenges (troop creation, troop upgrades for influence increasing> have gone to the edge of achievability, unless you spend spend spend. And of course eat and sleep with your vikings game next to you.

I also said Plarium doesn't like small clans and that also proves to be right. One single level 40 bests a small clan without a lvl 40 effortlessly. A lvl 38 and 39 are no match. And if they can get reputes, it's not even worth the dust to start up a Siege. Even one of those fancy new town skins or hero skins won't help. Your troops are toast and you can pour in as much as you like. Opponents are also getting skilled in timing their attack, so it gets really hard to earn soul shards from SH Siege other than some measely shards from getting beaten to pulp by a lvl 40.

The league of asgard also attacks people with multiple accounts. Asgard events are tough and take a lot of time or power/boosts/energy/whatever. It's so bad that I have declined to raise my main account to lvl 37 up to today just to be able to gather enough rune coins to get some of those town skins because I know I would have quit the game by now if I was in the league of asgard with it. I just won't do it. My other account is a lvl 39 and I pass on the large majority of events due to too expensive/time consuming. I never thought it would come to this.

Now there is a lot I like about the recent upgrades, but most of it has side effects that make me decline to play on the level Plarium wants me to play, and believe me I have loads of time to play, but there is no fun in wasting time for under-rewarded events. Asgard events need 2,5 times the requirements of Odin, but the rewards in rune coins are just 20 percent higher. No thanks.

I just would like to add one issue that recently made things worse : the 'Gard of War' townskin. Not only your direct cvc enemy attacks your SH Siege, but players from every clan from other kingdoms during cvc do now too. Before this happened sporadically, and my tactic was to defend with low level troops to reduce the amount of soul shards the enemy wins and thus discourage continuing their attacks. That used to work frequently. Now many more need shards, and they will attack you every single wave of jotun troops you try to defend from until it's over, no matter how small the gains. Now some players understand that hitting after this defense will encourage a player to keep sending troops in for defense because at least you get the soul shards for it. However most players are too dumb to realise this and after a while I simply stop trying to defend since every round my troops gets killed before the jotun troops hit offering a meager amount of shards not worth the effort. So it's not just a waste of troops but also a waste of prescious dust.

The only solution for me is to ignore cvc event and do siege during kindom nap twice a week. Is that what you want Plarium? Because that is ultimately what you will get. Excluding small clans from Holmgang has removed the only other option to acquire decent amounts of soul shards there was left. Again this looks like a dead end street to me.

Remark : you are about to introduce enemies in a new area of the world map. If you would hold such events together with cvc, and build them for high lvl players or big sized clans, that may create more opportunity for smaller accounts or smaller clans in the old part of the map. The thing is, you want smaller players to have a chance to get soul shards. You want them to grow stronger. As it is right now, that has become problematic.

Have you considered that, from their point of view that they are not unwanted side effects?

Do you know something that we do not ,perhaps having read about it on some other forum, or are you just speculating  egarding the new and old part of the map?

Deciding what you want, and what you are willing to sacrifise for it is a difficult issue for any game maker. The game is not just about the top spenders. There is the average spender and you want them in the game because they tend to draw in and keep much more players in than the top core. They also care more about small accounts and helping them grow. Ignoring them will simply kill your game. Surely unwanted side effects is a personal interpretation, and I don't have the numbers, but I am pretty sure there are plenty of players who don't finish <or start> some <or many> personal events in the league of Asgard.

As far as the new map, I was suggesting, not even speculating. I personally think this game is ready for adding a meta-game to it. That means a top tier tournament with media attention. A place where the top can play allowing room for the others to grow faster in the old kingdom. A league of Walhalla or something.

Kingchack1: the biggest players have always wanted to get an advantage over the other biggest players - so Plarium comes up with a new goal/level to work for so they can get that advantage. And so the top palace level, which used to be 21, is now level 40. What Plarium has not done is continue with the restrictions, i.e. although anything above a low level towns cannot attack baby towns there is nothing to stop high level towns attacking mid level towns. I suggest a level 40 town should not be able to attack anything below level 35 and level 34 and above should not be able to attack anything below level 28.

Kingchack1: Good news - Plarium has listened - level 40 will now be a league on their own and the other high levels will be more restricted /competitive too.  Not sure it solves your original missmatch clan issue though.
