'Excalibur' Platform realisticness?

If you look at the 'Excalibur' Platform's profile picture, it's got the three prong-like things jutting out from its base, with orange beams connecting from the ends of those prongs to the 'Excalibur' Platform's base.

Yes, I agree it looks cool...

But how realistic is it?

Why would you send energy outside the 'Excalibur' Platform, exposed to environmental resistances (air, rain, Troopers willing to get in its way to block it, etc. (I realize it's in space, a vacuum, but still...)), when you could have the energy run inside the 'Excalibur' Platform, exposed to minimal resistances?

Yes, I agree it looks much better than this alternative, though it doesn't quite doesn't seem to make sense...

Also, I'm no scientist, this is purely inferencing on my part... So yeah   :)

The excalibur is a space unit (it operates operates out side the atmosphere) so there isn't anything around it to create resistance.

Err... Sure, if you prefer to give your 'Excalibur' Platforms human genders...

I think you're missing what I'm pointing at, here...   lol

Yes, you're missing my idea ('point')...

My point is, there is always a larger chance for the laser beams' obstruction outside the 'Excalibur' Platform, rather than inside the 'Excalibur' Platform...

So aside from it looking cooler, what's the point of it?

ok i can see where the beam could be interrupted when bio attempted to make his sand worms fly they reached orbit and multiplied they then sort out "nests" or your excaliburs

now another form of resistance to their beam would be what we in the science industry call cheese and ham radiation, its really a bit like green eggs and ham

this radiation is formed as the bio off-put of the cheese and ham sandwich that u used the excalibur to toast for you

The lasers go on the outside so they don't hurt the hamsters who are running in their wheels to power the excalibur...

Of course.  They power all of my technology, like an engine.  A giant, fluffy engine.

Quick! Call 9-11 on BiohazarD for animal abuse! Wait... Do we have 9-11 here still as well?   lol

Sneaky, sneaky BiohazarD...   lol

Controlling the emergency hotline so he can't get arrested by the law...

But wait, aren't we self-governing colonies, who adhere to 2 (at most) mightier powers? (Clan leaders, General T. Winters)

So he's avoiding needing to arrest himself...   lol
