Put your units in catacombs, thats the only thing you can do. While you are away get used to the idea to be everyones resource farm.

castle protection is solely players responsibility.
Give the account to a family member of yours . Tell him to log in daily , spend the resources and put the troops that have been built into the catacombs. No other way to do it i guess.You can also try being sieged by a member of your league/ ingame friend. If their level is high enough this should deter some attacks. If they are also willing to retaliate when you're attacked that should solve your problem almost entirely.
It's shame that player haven't right on 45 days vacation for a year, but that will not help in this situation.

What makes something special is rarity. In a game where you can buy anything, there is no rarity.

partial, gains + 50% with hero but bgs are not important for the game (you can not get them), find other balances involved and choose the best strategy
