Have you tried to upgrade your Hall of Shadows to the maximum? that will greatly improve your food situation.

Hello my Lord , is a strange request , i hope you know that even if you have a negative food production , your units are safe , and you can keep them and use like you want , doing battlegrounds, attacking enemies...

The game no longer dissmisses troops that go over the food limit so I know of Many that  just stay in negative food while building quite large troop counts  

Thank you, I wasn't aware that troops survived past food drainage. I'll work to upgrade the Hall of Shadows too. 

You are welcome  Good game to you ! Have you been able to aquire Lover's Blessing relics yet Placing two of them and activating them will give you an extra 15% each

They can be gained by leagues taking 1st place in various league Tournaments in the game 

If you have too many troops, just go look up my castle, click the siege button, and send any units you don't want anymore.  I'll take care of them for you :)

But yeah, there's no real reason to worry about food consumption anymore since units aren't lost when you run out.  Just have to get used to seeing red numbers if you want a big army.
