My Lords and Ladies, you have changed the history of Darkshine!

From now on, you will be receiving much more Glory Points and Tomes in League Tournaments!

Earn bigger Rewards, develop your Fortress, and bring glory to your League!

Lord Oberon,

That would be great except that it seems these rewards replace the previous rewards we were getting.  I am not seeing "bigger" rewards, just different rewards.  The lack of eldrich troops in the rewards pool makes this change feel stingier, like they are taking away from us rather than giving us greater rewards.

I know the fortress upgrades make what we have faster, stronger, etc.  It is simply that the lack of troops in the reward means we'll also have that much more rebuilding to do, leaving us with less for the next tournament.  The change to bg tournament rules adds to the problem; no more bonus rewards for finishing bgs during tournament.  They've made it as troop intensive as every tournament other than the development tournament.

People have repeatedly given the feedback that slow troop production is one of the factors reducing enjoyment of the game, and it seems Plarium is totally ignoring that feedback, making game more troop intensive and giving us fewer back as rewards...  I know troops are a huge profit point for them, but it feels as though they are making the game increasingly cash intensive and more hostile to free players and light spenders.

I agree to an extent, however I think that the improved league rewards make sense given that it is a league tournament. This actually feels like its worth contributing to as a league in comparison to previous league tournaments, which had little benefit to the league and little incentive for the individual rewards compared to the solo tournaments. Now there is a clear benefit to the league in terms of tomes and glory points.

I'll take it as an update.

Big step in the right direction to making Fortresses meaningful content rather than simply a sapphire drain.

Have never been a fan of all the free troops that got given out via league quests, given it is a paltry 100 points to take advantage of the rewards. When you see in people's beacons and see the proportion of eldritch golems in the defense it's clear many leagues have defense significantly in excess of anything they have earned via raiding and BG's (i.e. playing the game).

All good with me.

Now we just need the stupid research times changed (or even removed) so that the whole thing isn't still behind a "pay to win" barrier.

As long as it takes to produce troops, I see free troops from tournaments, both league and solo, as welcome.  Why would we want eldrich troops to be even more hidden behind the pay to win barrier than they already are?  Tournament rewards and the story bgs are the two places I've seen eldrich available for free; everywhere else, they come with a real money price tag.

It is nice to get the fortress stuff from tournaments; it is simply that Lord Oberon claimed "earn bigger rewards" and this is not bigger rewards, it is taking one reward away and replacing it with another.  I find that wording deceptive and so brought up the issue.

The research times are annoying.  I get the impression it is a pay to win wall, like the slow troop production, that Plarium intends to leave in place.  Hopefully I'm wrong on that, but time seems to be one of the things Plarium loves to put a premium price tag on.

Your comment about proportion of eldrich golems in beacon compared to other units proving that people are obviously paying money for beacon defense units is a bit confusing to me.  I can see being opposed to rewarding the lazy, people who simply ride coat tails while contributing the bare minimum, but it sounds like you're saying we don't need troops in league rewards because purchased troops have a far bigger impact.  Is that your meaning, or am I misinterpreting?

Not necessarily - it makes sense to keep the Eldritch units you get as rewards given their higher defense per unit food consumption than most of the units you can produce. Hence you send the Eldritch units to the beacon, whilst sacrificing the units that you can make that consume more food per unit defense (ie everything from griffins down) in order to get the eldritch units as rewards and keep the food consumption low.

Why would you want them given out willy nilly for no effort at all.

Not knocking solo quests, would not knock league quests with some kind of difficulty. But not going to shed a tear over loss of rewards for for 100 points.

The extra Tomes and Glory Points are a welcome addition ... and we still get weekend solo pvp for soulstones and eldrich units and occasional Legendaries.

We also have XP Tournaments and solo pvp tournaments with 2x league multiplier, along with Hamlet Harvest and Beacon Takedowns
Battlegrounds and BG Tournaments can be an excellent method of gaining new units too.

No doubt, we will also see Fortress Tournaments fairly soon, so there should be enough variety for everyone.

Perhaps the emphasis on Tomes and Glory Points can be relaxed at some point in the future, but for now, this is all good news

Silk, sorry Tony :P

Would you want to see a fortress tournament? As far as I am aware there is no such tournament in development, but it is possible I just don't know about it.

Hamlet tournaments came fairly fast after Hamlets were introduced, so it wouldn't be surprising to see some form of fortress tournament come soon.  One possible downside is if there are regular tournaments rewarding downgrading fortresses, then it would cause most leagues to simply sit at lvl 5 or lvl 8 and would put the leagues unable to rush to 5 firmly in the crosshairs of everyone seeking tournament rewards.

It would be interesting if fortress tournament was similar to a development tournament, but with the cds, it would make it hard to get rewards without spending sapphires.  It would also be hard to have fair rewards for participation; they'd almost be forced to make the rewards league rewards that could only be used for fortress.  Perhaps an event like that would be a good place to give cd reducing items (for fortress) as reward?
