Are you only opening shards during 2X eventa?

Yeah given you're starting this thread today, when the last blue 2X was about a month ago? Sounds like you are your own worst enemy.

Ancient shard opening during 2x event: 10 shards, 2 legendaries, 3 epics. Do not open shards outside of 2x event!

I play every day, but I also have a job and a household to upkeep

I don't spend a shitload of money on packs and won't.  If that is what is necessary, I'll go back to Warcraft

I've been playing maybe a couple months. I'm not hard core all out gamer. I have other responsibilities that comes with being an adult

When I do get shards I use them 2x or not.  The drop rate for anything other then blues sucks ass and the 2x doesn't change your odds of getting a blue vs. epic

I'm still learning the game but the drop rate for epic and legendary sux

I also know the super advanced money is no object don't have a job players may think I'm an idiot. It's that way in every game.  I don't care and don't listen to those weenies.  As a free game there should be incentives to be able to advace without unobtainable objectives simply because I spend less money.  That should not be a requirement

Woah. My guy. There's a lot going on in all of these statements.

I hate to have to defend all these hooligans and troublemakers on the forums, but most people posting here are F2P. Most are adults who have full time jobs. Most will try to help you, as they are here by recommending you play the odds by waiting to pull shards at the right times.

And as a moderator here, I figured I should probably wade in and mention that their advice is quite sound. The 2x events literally doubles your odds of pulling legendary and epic champions. DOUBLE. Double makes a difference, especially over weeks, months or a year. So there IS a reason to hold your shards, if you wish to actually pull good champs.

If you want to play without spending, like most of us do, while having a real life, play smarter, not angrier.

I  couldnt  resist  the  double  legendary event and  got  2  epics  out  of  5  ancients.  No  leggo  but  not  bad.  1  dupe  and  an  ultra  galek.  

Like  christmas  sales  im  skeptical  of  the  2x.  Just  did  5  more  ancients  all  blue because  i  got  a  void shard i  wasnt  waiting  a  month  For

SOS  equivalent gold  pieces  were  pay  or  have  to  do  particularly  well  in  a  tournament  of  some  kind  so  im  used  to  it.  They  cant  really  be  booked for  free in  a  reasonable  way  anyway.

Maybe  ill  go  ahead  a  put what  books  i  have  in  lysandra,  not  sexy  but  a  healthy  staple  seems  like  has  long  term   uses.  And  Consider  sacreds  epics  and  epics  from  blues  a  bonus.  

Must admit I always save for the 2x but I had 53 blues and gems for another 20 so I thought double Lego why not

I got a Lego on the 51st blue, Kantra and my extra was Roxam, not game changing but happy to take them

Is the urge to oen shards that iresistiable?

Yes the odds are not great but they are so much worse if you open any time you get a shard instead of waiting for the 2X events.

As FTP you really have to manage your resources, and SHARDS are a resource.

I really wish they would stop advertising the game as a hero collection game, because it really is not.

   If you're not willing to spend and you're not willing to min max this game is not for you

Couldn't agree more. Once you think about Raid as a resource management or even a survival game, you really start to do better.

Don't waste resources, and you can really become sucessful......eventually......with lots of gear grinding.......

I've played Warcraft for 15yrs.  I see many of the same gripes I have w/warcraft here... i.e. pathetic drop rates.  I have fairly high level toons in warcraft yet it only cost me $15/mo. but I could advance in game w/o extra costs

I find I like this game so far but find it difficult to advance champions past 40.  I need chickens (lol) or advance lower champs (bunches of them apparently) I have to lvl which takes time especially if I want to lvl to 50 and beyond... only managed to advance Elhain to 50 so far.  The only other 50 I have is the default Aleksander apparenyly everyone gets

I must admit I was a bit peeved when I posted a couple of my replies.  Frustrated at lack of progress.  I understand the concept of farming mats and unlocking higher lvl challenges.  I managed to unlock the hard campaigns, but don't have enuf 50+ to be able to finish that lvl

I apologize for being short or contrite.  Reading thru the replies I see players with mountians of shards I see very few of if any... void- only seen one and never received a sacred shard... I could buy them but... F2P  This is not to say I don't buy a few things, I have but spending $50 or $100 for something for a game... especially on a regular basis is out of the question and for some to suggest that the only way to advance to higher lvls is to mortgage my house or the game is not for me... I cannot believe that is the way of things.  There should be other (actually useful) incentives to help advance to higher lvls w/o depleting savings

Progress in the game starts with getting your starter to 60. That means a lot of campaign farming at the beginning while you rank up uncommons to the point you have 5 5 star uncommons to feed to a level 50 Kael/Athel/Elhain. It is A LOT of redoing the same level over and over. But you having a 60 Elhain will change your experience with the game, everything gets easier.

And once you have one, you focus on doing the same with an AoE Dec Def champ like Aleks, or one you happen to pull. Then you do it again with something else you need, like Speed with High Khaturn or Apothecary.

All of this leads to a team of 5 60s farming Dragon 20 and Spider 13 or above. This will drop the gear necessary to progress in Clan Boss to the point where you are top chesting Normal, then Hard, then Brutal and finally Nightmare. Those top chests drop shards, and on NM, Sacreds. Hard and above can drop Voids. 

As a F2P myself, almost all of my progression came from focusing on a well rounded team of well equipped 60s, and using gear from the Forge and Dragon to progress to top chest NM and hitting UNM. Shards from there let me build my current 1 key UNM team.

So it is a long road, but the path is there. Lots of us went down it ourselves a while ago. Good luck!
