Hmm, let me first say that I wish the energy would go to my mailbox as well.

But I don't understand what you are asking. You say that you don't plan on doing much until the next tournaments/ events so you can build up your energy, but your energy won't build past the limit. Or do you mean you want to be able to use the free daily energy by doing your every day tasks and then claiming your energy pile when you need it?

1. I can confirm all CvC rewards (including personal) go to mailbox (don't have a full mailbox!) if unclaimed, same as all events and tournaments.  I never claim anything during an event or tournament, always to mailbox.
2. Generally saving energy is not a good idea if you truly want to maximize efficiency.  I only recommend hoarding energy if you either a) struggle to complete fusions because you are new or b) just take a break between the grind of fusions.  I do (b) and then run down energy as fast as possible during initial events.

People in my clan sit on small amounts of energy (<5k) permanently, just not smart :) Over a month that is 12k-15k lost depending on how often you let it hit max.  How many 5star chickens is that?
