My elhain is slower than 140 yet takes two turns before crossbowman(90 speed) takes a turn. Math?

Turn ticks are weird. They don't function the way you'd expect from math. I can't explain better than that.

skills can upset the apparant chemistry, maybe some tinkering with speed is involved

It's not that. It has nothing to do with speed boosts or skills.
Turns in Raid don't work the way they would in other games. Because of the way ticks work, you can end up getting fewer or more turns than you'd expect.

a guy named deadwood jedi has a calculator to speed tune champs, that does all that stuff but I think it was developed mainly for ClanBoss
