Treasure Islands vs Targets

I for one hope that Plarium isn't going to faze out targets as I've noticed there's none in the lighthouse since treasure islands appeared.

Although treasure islands offer a different approach to collecting resources I feel the risk to defensive troops needed to gather resources on a treasure island far exceeds the rewards.

Targets could be held with a single bonnie but in order to collect a reasonable amount of resources from a treasure island one must place a considerable number of defensive troops at risk.

I think Plarium is forgetting about the money players that are capable of sending 50 or 100 million in offence and defence which can make it near impossible for smaller players to benefit from them.

Plarium, please keep the regular targets as well -OR- increase the benefit from treasure islands to offset the losses incurred when trying to hold one.

I already asked about this, the targets are being removed as the Treasure Islands takes its place...

What's the purpose of the Whitmore & Company now that targets have gone.

And what about the pearls applied to allow you hold three targets?

I think treasure islands will be a mecca for pvp points.

the treasure islands are a slaughterhouse for defense units.. most players know that so they don't bother getting one, that's why a lot of the islands are unoccupied. If these islands will be the permanent replacement for targets, more players won't feel the need to take one as the risks outweigh the advantages greatly.. why risk lets say 50k defense for some gold or lumber.. or 100k defense (about 110 subs) for about 170 rubies that you need to collect in about 6 hours (your subs are exposed for 6 hours), if that 100k gets killed (and it will be quite easily), 170 rubies won't be enough to replace them.

I do agree but the best way I think, we'll see targets return is Plarium seeing how much we're dissatified with this current approach. I'm not suggesting people not bother but if the masses make enough noise maybe we can get them back.

I am slaughtering treasures for PVP

& not occupying one since i do not to lose my def troops while i know that i would not get any single resources from it.

it removed team play considerably from the game.. without the mass attack and team defense features, makes the game less interesting to play... while you can enjoy a bit of pvp pts, all in all it has lessened the smashing as it removed players' appetite for holding islands.

Gotta agree with arya. I am not planning to hold any of it. I will just attack it. But eventually my attacks will be reduced cause there will be no captured treasure island.

plarium just rigged the whole thing now though, This just gave a huge advantage on PvP hunters

they will be harder to hold,  Not sure what benefit we really have holding them now, are they worth the gears we gain and defense we lose trying?

that's the question we should be asking

If Plarium decides to phase out targets, a one time gift of a witchdoctor's wand would help recover the pears that many of us have invested in order to take three at a time. The way the current treasure island works, that would be a waste.

I also consider phasing out targets being stagnation. The treasure Islands are too sterile approach.

The old targets were more playful for several reasons. I try to point out some:

-Captain must be quick to pull out his offences before somebody attacks them.

-Possible to hold with only one bonnie and communicate to other captains (please, threaten, pribe, cooperate) in the area to keep the target. (No need to have big crew out waitnig to be slaughtered).

-Possible to send anonymous reinforcements to other captains targets to get anonymous PvP.

-Possible to get relics from relic targets.

Because there are only relic targets now that are seen from more grater distances in the lighthouse, those are also more useless because there are too many captains for too few targets.

for your last point, Relic targets are around :)

i didn't get this anonymous point as well.

Plarium used one bonnie thing as a negative one.

Relic targets are visible from 156 mi even with the lighthouse range of only 60mi. Yeah that is not too bad.

I do not know why the one bonnie thing is considered negative.

But it seems the new Treasure islands have indeed resulted in some raise in the PvP points levels and some big battles have taken place.

According to my calculations if i make 10 successful trips to a buried gold treasure island and is wiped on the 11 attempt, then i might not have gotten enough gold to replace the lost troops. And that doesn't even take into consideration the lumber, rum and time that went into those troops.

A sort tripp might be safe but you will probably collect more resources in less time by collecting the flotsam around your friends islands. And a large force will be exposed to every pvp hunter hitting random treasure islands, and even a tiny loss in units will make the attempt a loss in resources and time.

Yeah the real pirate style is to have about one girl in every harbour. And then visit the girl once in a while and also get away fast with resources. The real pirates do not leave their ships sitting target. We want to attack and get away with loot FAST! ARRR...

They're just not worth it.. It's hardly a "Treasure Island" with the amount of resources you collect from them if indeed you actually collect anything at all!

If Plarium wants us to risk our defensive troops occuping these so-called treasure islands then put some d.a.m.n treasure on them!!

I agree with Kitty

I can get more resources from a single raid in 1 minute than I would from a treasure island if I managed to hold it for 6 months!!

Put some treasure worth fighting for on them!!

Each player chooses his own strategy. Your Raids are limited, that's why some of our players go to Treasure Islands to get some extra Resources.

The whole point of them phasing out Targets was that there weren't any casualties. Plarium wants you to lost huge masses of fleet so you will buy them back. Treasure islands were held, collected from and even if they were taken, we would take them back. Most only held with 1 Bonnie. During PVP, some would load their Targets up with defense but rarely.

Plarium hoped that Treasure Islands would promote more casualties. But it failed them. Because no one wants to mess with them, I for one haven't touched Treasure Islands because I'm not just going to throw my fleet away. I did however hold targets every week. But like I said, they thought Treasure Islands would promote more casualties, promoting more purchases from the infirmary, and them making more money. This in my opinion was a terrible mistake for them. People just don't want these so they leave them alone.

well I do know there is a very huge problem with the whole treasure island thing, it just happens when you go find one to attack an it may take say 10 to 15 mins to get there, so I use 3 boost to hurry it on up there, so as my unit get there, I get a funky butt message after all that time, saying that my unit has been sent back, cause the person on it left, well that alright but I,m not fine with loosing my three boost for no reason, that's crap, I should be able to gain my boost back, if that's the case , then when you site a attack you want to grab on treasure island the person should,nt be able to leave that island once a attack is in place and boost been used an units are in play,so I lost out for nothing talking about feel rob here...not happy about that at all...
