When creating special equipment do not use gems on any of the equipment that will be used to create the special equipment, the gems will be destroyed during the creation of the special equipment.

Will the bonuses for the equipment used to make the special equipment be added to the special equipment or are the bonuses listed for the special equipment all that is received for the special equipment?
