Shields

Shields are up so quickly these days, in part by the creation of the short-cut area, where I confess I put all my shields and nothing else.  The speed by which these go up is, in my view, kind of ruining the war aspect of the game.  I think they should introduce say a 5 to 10/15 second delay before you can re-shield after a scout or attack?

Thoughts?

Yes, this seriously wrecked a BIG aspect of the fighting portion. Not enough players seem to care though :/
I personally know of several tickets submitted by different players when they first changed this and at least one forum topic on it... Nothing

i don't know if it is a good or bad idea...

I play a similar game where you have a cooldown of 30 min before being to put back a shield if you drop it for attack... BUT if you teleport somewhere, and you are not in the range of ennemy watchtower, ennemy can only find you by browsing the map and seek everywhere...

one feature compensate the other in my similar game but in viking, you can always find where is somebody by click the profile, same if it is out of reach from the watchtower...

there was a time in viking where event was with only 3 level, gold was rare and so shield too... as today, gold flow from event, and almost every city is shielded ... it have greatly reduce the amount of combat

If they were to do something about this I would rather like they removed it from Boosts, at least favs, except perhaps 7 day shields or something else costly.

It was possible to get shield up pretty fast before they changed the Boost window - one only had to know the shortest route, and practice on it. 1.5 seconds was doable. One can still do this today.

As the game is now it is hard for low to medium players to attack as it is. Simply because, at least during competitions, there are always players that are much bigger then 9?% of the others. If you are at 3b influence and attack a town - and there is a 5-10 sec. "non shield window" you are going to take some serious hits. And pts wise it would likely be a disaster. In 15 sec you'd be zeroed.

It would result in a war game for top 4-6 players, in total, during CvC / KvK and a farmville game for the rest :P

But, yes, I completely agree with you that it is an issue.
