If you were to attack a tile ...

and you are shielded does the game ask you if you want to drop your shield?  Today in the forest this guy kept seeming like he was going to attack everyone. And now that I talked to their diplomat (different language so not so easy to talk to the person directly) I am being told that he would have never actually attacked because the game would have asked him to confirm to drop his shield.  Is this true?

Yes. If your town is under Peace Treaty and you try to send your troops to the resource location which has been already captured by another player you will see this message;  If you send your troops to attack or spy, the Peace Treaty will lose its power. Are you sure you want to proceed?" If you click "Yes" button the Peace Treaty will expire immediately. However, if you send your troops to uncaptured resource location but someone else's army reaches the same location before your army, your troops will return to their home, you will receive The town has Peace Treaty notification message and you won't lose your Peace Treaty.

It was incidents of him sending when someone else was already on the way there and was much closer than him.  Anyways nice to know, especially for myself also ... I watch carefully and use a troop recall but I guess that isn't necessary if I am shielded and someone gets there before me ... or if I am going to get there first and they are shielded.
