Vikings on PC Browser Just stop trying since you obv never heard of optimizing

Sadly my wife is playing this game, but I am the one telling you guys that the PC/Browser Version of this game is an absolute mess.

Why? 

Because I am fed up by her complaints about lags, freezes, cryptic error messages, constant reloads because of updates/changes at any given time, game loading times of up to several minutes and so on.

Since she just wants it to work without having much technical knowledge now she is convinced she needs a new notebook ( FOR A ,SO CALLED, BROWSER GAME !!)




So whoever is in charge of this abdomination of a game must be an absolute genious or just doesn't care.

- using 1-1.5 GB of RAM per instance is something I could overlook, although........... for what? But producing constant memory leaks and overflows on top of that is really something to behold. 

- constantly 70-80% CPU usage? really? What are you doing? Bitcoin mining?



Please don't tell me to clear the cache (462MB Website Data from plarium? respect) or use a different browser (all 3 the same thing, IE is not a browser) or check my internet connection or something trivial.



Please:

Either put someone in charge of this PC/Browser version who actually tries to fix issues and doesn't just pump in new content that makes things even worse, or stop the PC browser access and stick to mobile.

To be able to conduct the thorough investigation, we need the information of all browsers your wife uses to play the game, her PC's configuration and the screenshot of the error message. You actually don't need screenshots of the error messages, because this forum (and the russian version of it) is complaining for 2 months.

So you should have already started your "thorough investigation". We got all the errors:

Browsers: FF, Chrome, Opera (all up to date and yes WebGL is working ;p) 


She uses a notebook with

- Intel I5-4210U @2.4 Ghz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM @666MHz and an internal Graphic controller (doesn't really matter , since you guys don't use Graphics Memory) and Win7 Prof 64bit


totally sufficient for a browser game.


But guess what:

same crap happens on my system

 Intel I7-4790 @3.5 Ghz, 12 GB DDR3 RAM @1066MHz, (Geforce 750 Ti)  and Win10 64bit

about this thread I take a look on the task manager on my laptop.

About 25% CPU and 25% Ram (1,5GB) will use Firefox with this game.

I mean that is too much.

When I start the other account with Chrome the game on both is not playable. Only lags and hangs.

There too 25% and 1,5GB Ram is used when I am in that window.

In the past I could play with both open Browsers.


What I see too is when I open in Firefox for e.x. the forum and be in this and look to the Task Manager the Forum use only 5% CPU the 1,5GB Ram is the same.

I have open both task in Firefox. When I go to Vikings Task the CPU goes to 25%.

Perhabs it helps you.


System: I7-7700HQ 2,8GHz   16GB Ram  Windows 10 Pro

Atm I have open on my PC:

- Chrome with 6 tabs (including this forum)

- a standalone full PC game (World of Warships) open in idle but logged in

- Task Manager

- Ressource Monitor 

- Skype in idle


This all uses 4.6 GB of my RAM (including Windows 10) and 12-17% CPU



If I open 2 instances of this game here (2 Accounts) and nothing else,

it uses 5GB of Ram and the CPU is constantly on 50-70% on that map you have here.



Draw your own conclusions.

this browser memory issue has been going on for months got a lot worse when ghosts hit the kingdom maps, theres so much junk on the maps why do we need thousands of dead lvl 1 cities get rid of them, give browser players option to turn off invader and ghost animations like we can turn off hero march, just do something, above is just a small  section f the map i see and just look at  all the lvl 1 cities why are they even there, im not tech minded far from it but everything on the maps has to rezz when i scroll around looking for targets to hit crashing every few minutes and i do mean few minutes sometimes game crashes in 3 minutes, i want to invest more into my game but as it is now i just dont think its worth risking much more of my money, its not smooth to play and i find it extremely frustrating reloading the game so much and i just get the impression that plarium dont really care about their browser players i see nothing from the development team in news or  tech threads, i know you pass the info on but it would be really nice if someone from tech would actually say something in here, and to know that this issue is being taken seriously as this game is destined for the bin for browser players

this game will not be playable on pc in 2019 the reason is simple, the more content is added the bigger the memory will have to be, EX: when ghosts has been added to the map the amount of memory problem has been multiplied by 10 (i'm not exaggerating) i have 16GO of Ram - Intel Core i7-8086K (4.0 GHz) - GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X - 8 Go - 1GO Internet speed i run any game in 4K but a game like Viking war of Clan is pulling errors telin me i have an issue of memory or Connection lost ? same errors again and again and i have tried every browser and app, i think every update should not be released befor its tested by the devs, because there is players that lose everything in 5 minutes because of things they couldn't control and they don't get back what they lost if they can't provide screenshots or the exact time when they added their shields, btw a message should apear in the mailbox when the shield drop by its own EX:"your peace of treaty of 24hours added (TIME XX:XX) is down at (TIME XX:XX) would easier for the person to know if its his own mistake or a game glitch.

let begin with "2-" ... have a old computer ( 11 year old next month ) with windows xp pro x64... have the usual error as everybody but not very often...


old computer have 2 processor xeon quad core... game use 80% of 1 thread... total 5% of all computer power... the game is not made for multicore or hyperthreading... best to have a single core at 4 ghz that 16 thread at 2 ghz...

as memory use, it is 1.186.412k in my case with firefox but it is a naked version of firefox with bare minimum... add-on  and plugin are loaded only on demand, not toolbar, etc... only developper tools



"2-" adding thing don't mean bigger... working code for feature are pretty small when compare to size of graphic asset... what plarium need to do is optimize their graphic asset...


I have be in a modding team for years, working on a mod who optimize skyrim... after around 2 year of work, remaking the uv map of model, correcting mesh error, and optimizing texture... the mod team was able to reducing the memory use of skyrim by 40%... who have give room to other modding team to add plenty of content... point is that plarium need to make some optimization work as future update before adding new feature...


plarium is already working on freeing memory as java console log show :

but i am not sure that it is the road to follow for reduce the unity webgl memory error... unity need a continuous chunk of memory for work correctly... load and unload continuously assets in memory greatly fragment the memory and somehow will make appear the memory error more often... from my point of view, the hard work to optimize/correct the graphic asset to use less memory is the way to go...


"3-" agree with it but i think that plarium devs don't use the devs tools in their own browser else they will see directly some of the problems as show below from my own log...

you STILL have FIVE copies of 64b firefox  going in this game! it used to only use one copy.


The watchtower STILL limits view sometimes to about 6 to 14 distance out... ongoing problem for OVER FOUR MONTHS !


You have customer service that edit and manipulate complants and feedback to justify punishing users, and they refuse to account for their summary judgements and punishments.

hi,

   since the start of kvk i have noticed a distinct lack of crashing with the browser error i can now search the map quite happily with out getting the memory error every few minutes has something been done to solve this issue as the game feels so much better to play.


if so thank you for sorting this out it is greatly appreciated

Just to make it clear


The issue has not been resolved. The WebGL error is still quite common.

The game seems to run a littlebit better on Chrome for the last 2 days, while on Firefox it still behaves like I'm running a CPU benchmark stresstest.
