Soul Shard Problem.

Ok -- I seem to knocking my head against a proverbial wall when it come to getting Soul Shards.  Our clan did a siege several days ago, and in the reports it stated thousands of Soul Shards had been earned.  The problem is I have recieved NONE nor has any of the other two players who participated.  Plarium CS says the shards were awarded, but none of us has seen any..  Bottom line is there needs to be more ways for players to earn Soul Shards or purchase them in Subscrtipions at least.

Bassagitator, please note that the Soul Shards are credited only to the players who killed the corresponding number of enemy warriors. If you all haven't received them, please stick to the Support Team, our specialists will check the results of the battles: https://vikingsweb-support.plarium.com/web/en/problems/

As for the suggestion regarding the ways to earn more Soul Shards — thank you, I have forwarded it to the developers for the further consideration. Feel free to share all your ideas here🤗

The game does not provide a Report or a System message indicating the number of soul shards gained. Someone wanting to keep track could, I suppose, look at the number of soul shards held (Items - My Items - Resources) before and after each siege defence.

I was going to suggest the same, but it is tedious and time consuming having to check everything every time, and so easy to forget to do if mainly there is no fault occurring.

Hello John.  In "Battle Reports" you see if you have earned any Soul Shards.  An example is when I attacked a city in anothetr Kingdom it recorded I had Kill a good number of troops.  It also told me I had recieved 79 Soul Shards.  I checked my inventory and I had.  The problem I had in our Clan Siege was the "Battle Reports" recorded the number of troops we lost and killed AND told us the Number of Soul Shards we recieved.. The PROBLEM was that of the 3 clan members who participated. NONE of us recieved any into our inventory.

When you attack a city ftom another kingdom or troops from another kingdom on a tile the battle report tells you how many soul shards have been won and you know those soul shards are being credited to you because no one else is involved.  The report after a siege defence tells you how many soul shards have been won overall but does not break down how the soul shards are distributed among the participants.  As I said in the previous post there is no Report or System message telling each participant how they fared.

To know how the thousands of soul shards were distributed you and each of the other participants would have had to anticipate the situation by noting how many soul shards you had before the defence and then each would have had to check the number after the defence.  And then, I suppose, you would each have had to check in with each other to see how the numbers added up.

And that would not lead to any absolute certainty.  Because it is possible for others to intervene in your defence.  It is rather difficult to work out that this has or has not happened from the very limited and not wonderfully helpful material included in the battle report.

The likelihood that a glitch occurred and the thousands of soul shards just disappeared is low to disappearing.  The possibility that you were just unable to track them is quite good.

I am in a similar position to you in that my clan has recently advanced our SH to level 4 and built a Tower of Odin.  We are now tackling the difficult task of getting into a position to put up a worthwhile defence to Jottun marches and avoiding the dangers posed by outside interference.  You might let your thousands of soul shards be water under the bridge and focus on those, somewhat more interesting, matters.  :)

I have a soul shard problem too. I left the clan temporarily to go to another kingdom to attack a ghost town (part of a clan) whose shield had just dropped, successfully killed 82 million + troops and I can't see anything in the battle reports about earning any soul shards.

Do I have to be in a clan to earn soul shards? That is rather tough on all those nonclan member out there.

I think this must tie in with your  boast post on the 'active town shields topic' suggestion

It may be connected to another of my why do it questions?

You say you left the clan and went to another kingdom, I am not sure how you could achieve this such that it would be to your advantage to do so.

Theres only certain times you can go to another kingdom and it means there's a competition running.

The only other way is to drakkar, isn't it?

If this is what you did therein lies the answer perhaps.

I believe that you do not get soul shards from attacking towns in your own kingdom.

Yes it cost 3 drakars for me to move, and you are free to pay drakars to move at any time.  The town you attack for soul shards has to belong to a clan but as far as I know it does not matter which kingdom. I haven't managed to find any instruction on that yet.

And soul shards become the main building material for troops, aesir etc, a real pain and hard to earn unless you can kill millions of t7 and t8 jotuns.

Plarium has sent me confirmation that you can only get soul shards by killing players from another kingdom, as per a temporary relocation, i.e. as part of a competition.

That confirms what I thought was the case, and though unwrittten there before, is additional evidence to my  previous argument against the elimination  of long term shields as suggested in the post below.

https://plarium.com/forum/en/vikings-war-of-clans/713_ideas-and-suggestions/623833_active-town-shields/

There seems little to be gained from derelict towns these days, given what is available elsewhere.

I had surmised the idea of soul shards from such towns prompted the initial suggestion from VampsDD11.

As to why you can't get shards that way, it's obvious when you think about it, study the game, and what happens rather than just going at it like a bull in a china shop.

You left clan and moved to a different kingdom(with drakkars?) attacked an unshielded town and gained no shards? That is probably because you moved to the very same kingdom the town originates..

Your own kingdom players does not give soul shards. Any players outside of your own kingdom will give soul shards when killed.

My advice is build a level 4 stronghold and tower of odin and get a few friends 3-5 people(fighters) can be a decent clan and grow their military strength. Do not go excess on the influence by having a shit ton of troops you dont spend. Unless you know you are capable of atleast taking on 600m t7 onslaught by other clans.

Did you not read everything wriiten?

Why would you assume they do not  already have  a stronghold.?

Having one even at level 4 doesn't necessarily solve the problem of shortage of soul shards, if you  read the other threads about  super big aggressive players/clans, stealing a march on those that set the siege.

im not assuming anything.

I pointed out why pipkin did not receive soul shards, it gotta be the same kingdom, theres is no other explaination. The part about level 4 stronghold and tower of odin is an advice, followed by some pointers.

If people want ghost towns to magically grow some troops every now and then for them to get something to attack and gain soul shards.. I can say that'll get you nowhere.

As for defending a siege and not gain ANY soul shards.. that just cant be true(If you defended against jotunns)

With a level 4 tower of odin you can get 50-56m shards total every 3 days. If you are few in the clan then more shards among you. No ofcourse doesnt it solve the soul shard problem, dont be ridiculous.

You are entitled to repeat information, however I had already suggested the reason, why Pipkin didn't get the expected soul shards, and he had also written that the Plarium team had told him this.

I had also already suggested that towns generating troops and so providing soul shards wasn't likely, and  that I believed that's what VampsDD11 was anticipating when he suggested that long absent players town should loose their shields.

The pickups from derelict towns I would suggest is insignificant now, especially with the higher levels and superfast loaded resource tiles, even for a new account, compared to when I first started playing the game, when chasing after a few resources from a level 1 tile or hoping you wouldn't get hit was a major concern, not much gold around and no domain guards and  plentiful other bonuses then.

I appreciate that a clan is going to pick up souls shards against game generated troops in a siege, but not if another clan sticks their nose in, which seems to be the basis of all the complaints on the forum about sieges being stolen.

I didn't say soul shards weren't available  from sieges. I said  expectations from sieges can be dissapointing when superior forces intervene in them.

Thanks John and xyz. It gets worse. The game originally suggested before the move that I could return in 24hrs. Now I learn you have to wait a month to spend any more drakkars - and it will use all the drakkars I have. A real expensive learning exercise. This kingdom has a lot of towns that have stopped playing and have  shields due to drop in the next 3 weeks - but they wont give me any soul shards and I do not need or want their rss. So sad!

As xyz suggested: allowing all ghost towns to regenerate troops continuously for soul shards would make it too easy to get soul shards. I had the impression that the clans in my former kingdom used to take turns taking the pop from each other to get soul shards, a misconception or has something changed?

The other bigger clan members have realised they are going to have to develop a fighting force to get any further. They have been great farmers until now - no 4 clan in this last competition.

Nothing for it but to do soul shards the hard way: a 1.1tril infl lv40 ek player left 4.2mil t6 on several gold fields at the start of my alt's clan cvc. At least the ek player got some decent soul shards out of it too )) , and it is still cheaper than taking on 12 million t7 Jotuns backed up by millions more level 4, 5, and 6 troops.

Unfortunate about being stuck there for a month ,and needing all your drakkars to get back.

Make the most of your time there, see if you can get into a good clan.

Regarding changes, you may be right about that, I can't say for definite either way if soul shards were picked up previously as you suggested.

I suspect they were, and they only like certain cheating,so they stopped it.

Unfortunately cheating continues.

The Jotunn marches are very very much weaker than players atleast and siege defense is the cheapest way to get shards If you get to do it in peace.

So it might be a good idea to have 2 strongholds. Use one for pure shard farming, keeping the 2nd stronghold for cvc and point scoring till you eventually get dry behind the ears. Problem is that once you start getting over 4T influence youll face many with this tactic.. using 2 strongholds during cvc. Some folks even got level 5-6 tower of odin Making victory almost impossible for the non disciplined.

complete your ubba gear and upgrade it. Its one of the easiest gains to your stats for starters. buy and save gold specifically for town upgrades, some secret knowledge. Fortress knowledge. At lvl 38 you can get to level 6/10 knowledge i think, pick it as number one. Get tier 8 for second, itll take a moment till they can be used effectively.

brotherhood of the north subscription is very good for helheim fires to complete your gear upgrades.
