Are you ok taking the back off your laptop? If you unscrew your keyboard and give it a gently shake over a bin that should help.

It's surprising how many bits of crumbs etc get trapped under the keys.

Just do what I do ... Take it outside and use a pressure washer on it. Be sure to get in all the crevices.  Your laptop will be squeeky clean.

Remove a key or two by lifting them off. Use a can of compressed air to blow between the keys aiming at the ones you removed. Then put the keys back on. Of course you will want the computer off when you do this, and don't shake the can of air before using. You can use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips to clean the keys and in between them as well.

A vacuum with a brush to gently dislodge any bits of crud will also help.

I am hoping you are smart enough to NOT follow the advice of taking it outside and hosing it with a pressure washer.

Yes. A vacuum cleaner will not hurt your laptop. If you are not going to open it, try to get all the dust out of the intake vent. Most of the dust will accumulate on the cpu fan. Cordless or corded vacuum is ok.
