I have a cannon on top of a gate, and when I moved the gate to the East side, or North, the gate seemed properly positioned but the weapon was in the wrong direction!

You could submit a ticket to support about it if it really bothers you.

@Conquerox (14 May, 2017, 3:32 AM UTC):
Alternatively, you could enter the sector edit mode (The one you used to move the gate in the first place), click on the improperly orientated gun, and rotate it manually.

Note that it appears all wall guns can either face right or down, not up or left.

If Internet Explorer still asks to be your default browser, then you can do anything :D

I think what he's complaining about is that if you put guns on the top left or top right wall, they can end up pointing at your sector instead of defending it.  This has no affect on actual gameplay, it just looks weird.  It's not a glitch, but how the game was designed.  I don't know why they didn't make it so you can rotate guns to point all 4 directions.

Ah, I see.

I was thrown off a bit by 'east', since it usually implies rightwards (Which the guns can point to), but I suppose he meant west.

Or maybe my sense of direction is off  :P

I think it's been like that forever, so a change is unlikely, in my opinion.
