We have been seeing our packs get more expensive and worse the last few weeks. Several players I know have quit as a result and combined with update I think we will see many more. I could not imagine a new player having to tackle it.

They only got worse because it reset the time-since-last-purchase. If you wait a couple of weeks, it should be the same.

The problem you're describing is not with the game, it's with your approach. You expect to "max out" or in other words to "finish the game" on a game that by Plarium's description "has no real end-point".

What's so bad with having more to research? Even more people would quit once they are maxed out than people who quit because they can't max out as soon as they thought they will.

Even most of our small players who only buy a 4.99 every few months have seen the change. Its one of the biggest complaints in the chats and with new updates, suspect many will just walk away. I'm not talking about level 25, billion players but average players in the 50-100 million range who used to buy a couple 4.99 or 9.99 packs a month. The first new update to the castle is 239 weeks and with over 700 new studies just a bit ridiculous.

OK, bubble burst time.

100% (construction) speed on hero skills. 66% from study (not including Building II, that will add more). 202.9% on gear.

So we're looking at 1/4.69 or 21.3%. Now we have the bonuses! *0.9 (Daily) * 0.9 (KvK win) *0.9 (Tower of Triumph) *0.8 (I could use the 30% bonus but then you'll say you don't have them in your pack which is wierd because my -30% study bonuses came from 4.99$ packs but w/e).

And 21.3*0.9*0.9*0.9*0.8 = 12.435% (a bit less, but I rounded it up for you) and that makes your new 239w palace into a harmless 29w5d.

You're welcome. You can go lower with the reputation bonus if you can get your hands on it, getting the new Building 2 study, or the -30% instead of -20%.

And why is it harmless? Because just by event rewards, you get every 2 weeks around 25d on KvKs alone, another 58d on OvOs and enough gold to convert into another 2 weeks in boosts. The personal and order events give you more. Multiply that by 1.1 (daily bonus) and you'll see that by events alone, no gold or dollars invested (other than event rewards) you get your new palace within well under 2 months.
