Can we improve gem combination increases?

Why such poor increases when you combine gems to a higher level.  Take Malachite for example  4 Malachite Simple Gems 4 x 35 Stamina points = 140)  makes 1 Usual Gem (only worth 90 Stamina points),  4 Usual Gems (4 x 90 =360) makes 1 Unusual Gem (100 points).

Can we get at least 50% of the combined gems back?  And decrease the percentage for each level of gem.

Example:

Assume we start with 50% for the first level of combination and decrease by 10% to a minimum of 10%,

A Simple Gem = 35 Stamina points

Combine 4 Simple Gems = 140 Stamina points x 50% = 70 Stamina points.  Therefore an Usual Gem would be 105 Stamina points (35 from the Simple and the 70 point improvement for combining the Simple Gems)

Combine 4 Usual Gems - 420 Stamina points x 40% = 160 Stamina points. Therefore an Unusual Gem would be 273 Stamina points (105 from the Usual and the 168 point improvement for combining the Usual  Gems)

Combine 4 Unusual Gems - 1092 Stamina points x 30% = 328 Stamina points. Therefore an Unusual Gem would be 601 Stamina points (273 from the Unusual and the 328 point improvement for combining the Unusual Gems)

and so on.  You could even start with a lower value for the first level of gems.

Otherwise getting and combining gems is just too much work for too little pay off.

1. Malachite is next to useless.

2. You can only put 3 gems per gear piece (at most), and it can't be the same gem. At some point you'll want to maximize the gain from every gem slot, and anything not legendary is a waste.

My question is how do we utilize that fourth jewel slot on gear?  I receive the notification "Order has not learned the mystery of runes"  when I click on the forth slot.  Is there an upcoming update....if so when?

Not so sure that is true. It is equivalent to a stamina boost every X amount of time. Or an extra hit'ish, whatever (XP?) value that has.

With, say, Legendary Savage gear, not much else useful to use the jewel slot for. Myself, on this I do Legendary Citrine (Marching), Nephrite (Stamina Restore), Malachite (Stamina) each slot. On this dedicated ass. hitting gear, seems little choice or usefulness for these slots - suggestions and thoughts welcome.

I have the same question. I was eager to reach level 21 to use the forth slot - and now I have no idea how to get runes!

Go Palace, Statistics tab, Army section, (red) General button. down to Marching Speed. You will see any bonuses from jewels in an 'Equipment:' line.

Look at your total marching speed bonus total, heading those lines. Take off the equipment, repeat - you will see a difference, and should be able to explain that difference.

In the Workshop look up your equipment, note any Marching Speed % listed. Now go Hero, click the equipment - in your 'Equipment bonuses' list beside 'Marching Speed' you should see that % plus whatever % your citrine is giving you.

That may not explain what you are seeing, but you should be able to prove to your satisfaction that it is indeed in play.
