New Studies in the Academy

Lords, from now on, when your Academy reaches level 31, you'll get access to new "Foreign expertise" Studies. Trophies of Arms will be needed to conduct them.

Studies in the "Foreign expertise" tab are split into three categories:

- Offense

- Defense

- Castles

Studies in the Offense category will be useful to combative Lords. This category of Studies will help you improve your troop stats during offense and increase the march headcount.

Studies in the Defense category improve your troop stats during defense and increase the march headcount. It's the ideal option for those who prefer meeting their foes on their own territory!

Do you regularly hold Championships in the Order Citadel? Do you attack the Eternal Stronghold whenever you have chance? Then you need Studies in the Castles category to improve your troop stats during battles for Castles and to increase the number of warriors in a Raid.

By conducting the "Foreign expertise" type Studies in any category, you can also upgrade the following stats:

- Resource building capacity

- Troop capacity

- Reinforcement troops headcount

- Reinforcement troops speed

Important: once you've conducted a Study in one of the categories, the cost of the Studies in the other categories automatically increases. For example, if you conduct a Study in the Castles category, the cost of the Studies in the Offense and Defense categories will increase. Take this into account when planning your future development.

Have you already chosen the category that's right for you?

You failed to mention that percentages are a gamble. In other words, the studies are a totally new format without warning. Instead of an increasing percentage with higher levels, these studies can decrease. Why was this NOT mentioned in the info tab or anywhere else?

Not just typo's / wording / translation issues?

e.g. Increased offense against something +x%

vs Decreased enemy offense against something -y%

I understand increasing the cost of the 2nd and 3rd study types but more than 3x the cost is incredibly stupid and unnecessary.

If anyone has a Table that shows some of the increases to be gained from these studies it would be really helpful & much appreciated

as usual ....   information on what you get for your efforts is Very hard to find

while i am wishing for the impossible

if several of the HUGE power players could post tables of costs /  improvement

for the different 1st choices

1st choice Offence

1st choice Defence

1st choice Castles

the little red "info" box ..   says choose wisely

pretty difficult to do ... when information on costs / improvements is so hard to find

although for those players wanting to keep Overall expenditure / investment in the game as low as they can

and whom play just One Troop Type ....  the answer is already obvious

Offence ..  1st choice  for Spears & Knights players

Defence... 1st choice for Ranged & Cavalry players

................................................................................

Question ... ????

should Castles be 1st Choice for Siege & espionage accounts ?

I am finding it hard to believe that not ONE person has posted the cost increases within and across foreign expertise areas  ... Has NO ONE done these studies? Has NO ONE done more than one category? Has NO ONE noted the gold amount increases from level to level?

C'mon people - populate this wiki with some useful information !

This isn't a wiki.

There is one around, can't find the link at the moment, but is long abandonware.

There is some info at https://throne.help/en/

Most are too busy playing, or on phones, to be interested in creating the sort of content you are talking about.

You are welcome to start one. I expect we would all appreciate it.

Ok - Since no one seems to be publishing stats on the Foreign Expertise - Here is what I found:

Tier 1  - Following are the costs in gold per level per tile for Troop upgrade tiles. Tiles for general buffs such as training and RSS yields are 10-30% less:

1    550,000.00

2    710,000.00

3    850,000.00

4    990,000.00

5    1,150,000.00

6    1,300,000.00

7    1,450,000.00

8    1,700,000.00

9     2,100,000.00

10   3,100,000.00

480M in gold to complete the first Tier!    This is 7 months of hoarding gold like a Tolkien Dwarf!!

The second tier starts at ~4.3M in gold (vs 550K for Tier I)  so if proportional - Tier II will be around 3.2 BILLION in gold. I don't know if I want to find out what a third tier will cost. This is a 1 8 ? ratio and NOT a 1 2 3 or 1 3 5 ratio which, imho, would make a lot more sense

I suggest using gold vs Trophies of Arms for Foreign Expertise as Trophies really should be used for Cardinals, and using Trophies would run 500-600M just to complete Tier 1 and that could translate out to over 4.3B for Tier II.

This is an Expensive option!

Improvements range from a 5% bonus against T7 troops to a 100% bonus on your individual Troop type

Knights and Spear are in  Offense;
Cav and Range are in  Defense;
Siege and Scouts are in Castles

The above is my personal experience and opinion .. YMMV.

I've heard it suggested for t7 studies to do levels 8-10 of each via gold instead of RSS.

I wonder if the same / your point is also well taken for the same here.

Assuming, to your excellent point, that all other non-gold purchasable ToA requiring spend points have been completed.

I have experienced where t1's have done better than t2's-t4's against my t6's ... I pinned the problem down to the enemy having done these studies. [The t2's-t4's got nowhere. The t1's got somewhere.]

Irritating. :-)
