How to turn off newly introduced PC mouse wheel scrolling inertia / momentum?

A recent game update has turned on some form of PC mouse wheel scrolling inertial / momentum. Both PlariumPlay and Chrome.

How to:

  1. Stop the movement upon demand? Clicking / holding only stops the movement while the mouse button is down - releasing the button resumes the movement.
  2. Revert this mouse wheel scrolling behaviour as it was prior to the update.

I can click on a button as it goes by, but it ends up going into the green 'Several' button, or the button below it, or nothing as it misses the button, as movement remains continous.

This has made using your game much, much harder. (Making your product much less palatable.)

Smooth scrolling is turned off, so that is not the / an issue.

How to revert behaviour as prior to update?

WWO, please describe the issue in detail in a ticket to the Support Team: http://support-portal.plarium.com/ticketcreator/throne/en?devicelocale=en&spGame=throne-web

They will surely check it😇

As you well know, I am intimately familiar with the 'Support Team' process.

If I was interested in going through that excruciatingly endless and time consuming process, to ultimately end with no satisfactory answer that indeed reverts this insidious game update, I would do so.

I am not.

I have intentionally posted here, not there, hoping that someone in the forum community has encountered and overcome this issue, and will so share.

> Hi WWO, I just want to assist you🙏

You cannot.

Your support specialists cannot.

Since I am aware of this, I posted the question here in hopes of a community answer.

If you are not going to give a direct solution, but only redirect, please stop speaking here.

Let it be to the community to answer, if there is one, rather than having our day endlessly interrupted with your same response.

WWO, I feel your pain.  this newly intrduced "feature" is horrible, and needs removing immediately.  I can only assume support have been as helpful as roger.  I'm no help, other than to offer moral support in hating this scrolling inertia, which adds nothing but add annoyance for everyone.

Please stop adding terrible bugs that no-one wants.  spend that time fixing the chat window, which is essential in a multi player game.

Hi Lord, if you face any difficulties with the chat window, please forward your request to the Support Team. Unfortunately, I do not have the necessary tools to check the situation.

Our specialists will surely provide you with the most relevant information🙏

Chat window issues were recently fixed for many.

If you still have issues, you may find the KaW Discord  is your fastest insight into what may be still plaguing you. Aside from submitting a ticket, that is - which will be painful to describe and excruciating to endure. But may have no other choice in this instance, as the issue seems fixed for most, at the moment.

[This impacts both Plarium Play and browsers.]

@Roger, and @anyone, have you any mousing strategies or suggestions to mitigate or minimize this irritation?

If I wheel down in the watchman list, then click on coordinates, I end up clicking on nothing as by then the coordinates have scrolled further, leaving me on empty space. So of course clicking does nothing.

I can click and hold, and the scrolling stops, but upon releasing the mouse button, scrolling resumes. [Even when I click on something that opens a new window, you can see the scrolling continue, behind it.]

Clicking and holding it a bit longer seems to slow the scroll rate upon button release, but not by much.

How can I get the scrolling TO STOP when I click the mouse button. [So I can then click the coordinates, button or whatever needs mouse clicking within that window of the time.]

This is VERY frustrating and annoying. At least, add a configuration setting to allow reversion to the prior mouse behaviour.

Hi WWO, please make a video of the scrolling as well as your attempts to click on the chosen location and send it to the Support Team: http://support-portal.plarium.com/ticketcreator/throne/en?devicelocale=en&spGame=throne-web

They will check the Watchman functionality🙏

@Roger - are you saying this is a known problem and they have a known solution?

Or, are you saying this is an unknown problem new to them?

Otherwise:

At the moment, I am not aware of any difficulties in this matter, so that why I actualy advise you to contact technical support :) In any case, technicians need a video, since such things are not always easy (or even possible) to reproduce, so they need to see your actions and your result 🤝

As noted, it started with a game update, and given https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1543193/ I am not unique in this problem - support can not possibly not already know of the issue.

i

[@Roger, the forum share button is broken again. It is giving links to topics, as above, not links to messages within topics, as in the first link. FYI.]

It will be fixed in due course (unlikely, as it was a deliberate change implemented by game update), or not at all (my expectation).

So sending to Support, or your suggesting I do so / go through the agony of the video you suggest - is counter-productive.

In the mean time ... if someone discovers how  to reverse or make less impactful, please add your experiences and thoughts to this forum message thread.

Hi WWO, the shared comments load as usual on my side, please try to clear the cache of your browser or use another one to solve the issue.

As for the scrolling difficulties — unfortunately, I can't provide you with the relevant information on it as I don't have the necessary tools to do so. Our Support Team will surely answer all your questions.

If I could assist you on this matter, I definitely would🙏

The rssulting URL was and should be of the form: https://plarium.com/forum/en/throne-kingdom-at-war/600_technical-support/611176_how-to-turn-off-newly-introduced-pc-mouse-wheel-scrolling-inertia---momentum/?anchorId=1541751

Note the presence of ?anchorid=# which directs the URL to a specific message within a thread.

Not the currently given URLs of the form: https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1556755/

Which has been reported as a bug in the past (including by @Umbra), and was subsequently fixed (in the forum software). Then it was back. Then it was fixed again.

And now it's back again.

In Linux, e.g., Brave, clicking the arrow presents 'copied to clipboard', resulting in an url of the form https://plarium.com/forum/en/throne-kingdom-at-war/600_technical-support/611176_how-to-turn-off-newly-introduced-pc-mouse-wheel-scrolling-inertia---momentum/   - note the lack of the crucial ?anchorId=1541751  portion.

Hi WWO, this is the link to your answer above, it leads me precisely to the comment: https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1556781/

Does it work the same on your side?

Does, however.

As things stand, there is no way to know what anchorid to use. No date or other artifact or link or hover shows it. Some forum system setting controls this - it has been changed back at least twice to restore links such as the above; something has reset the forum setting to the incorrect value again. As things stand, we cannot refer to particular messages. [Permitting a single point of content presentment (to maintain / update), while leaving links pointing to it always remaining correct / not needing change. (A single point of data being maintainable, all links pointing to it not being so.)]

Hi WWO! Yes, the links do not work if you tap on them here in the comments section. They lead to the comments only if you copy them and open in a new tab👍

I have made a couple of videos and sent them to the developers, they are studying the issue😇

Excellent / wonderful spot! (As in, spotting of the issue aspect.)

In the mean time, at least the link can be opened that way, then the resulting link copied / used.

Excellent sleuthing and reporting - thank you.

So, for our example, hovering over the arrow above (bottom-right of message, next to quote), brings up 'share' - clicking on it brings up 'copy link' (in Windows), clicking upon which results in https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1560101/ (1)

If I then forum message input link with tilted 8 icon I get https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1560101/ (2)

If I repeat the same, with open in new window checked, I get https://plarium.com/forum/en/comment/topic_1560101/ (3)
