Infirmary

The Infirmary should also represent a home base for your surgeons. Surgeons would have to be bought with res (could have an upgraded drachma unit as well) , and would be a unit that could accompany your army into battle. They would have a high chance of surviving the battle even where the army is wiped out (but not zero!) and would allow you to revive up to 10% of your units for free on ATTACKS (could allow up to 20% with drachma purchase , yet more base% and purchase% if using the upgraded surgeon unit). This option to be available during the return phase of the troops , expiring when the troops get back home.

Its unrealistic that no battlefield casualties can come back.. make it so a small fraction at least can be saved , should the player be on the ball to do so.

I'm lvl 36 and I still can't revive units for free. Under which condition can I revive units for free ?! Is there a tip or something for that ?

The free revival is under infirmary and you can revive the units you lose from attacks against your city.

I currently have over 200 archers, and have had similar numbers a few times before. but the infirmary does not seem to initiate the ability to revive any unless at least 100 are lost at the same time. This I find to be frustrating.

You must upgrade infirmary before it will revive any troops  and each level your upgrade it will revive a greater % of troops

Do troops not revived in the right column, just eventually die or do they heal and return after a number of days?

They die , unless you use drachmas to revive them.

I have infirmary level 5 and supposedly 9% of troops should be revived but I haven't noticed any coming back. So I decided to test this and count all the troops in my acropolis and all the troops in my infirmary last night and count them again today. The results are: the following have disappeared from the infirmary: 6 swordsmen, 23 javelineers, 42 psilos, 5 hoplites, 1 peltast, 2 Cretan archers, 1 scout and 2 mounted peltasts. Only 3 swordsmen have been added to my acropolis. Some are saying that only troops fallen in your city can be revived but it doesn't actually say this in the game information so if this is the case it is very misleading. Many of us wouldn't have bothered using so much upgrading time and resources if we had known that only troops fallen in one's own city could be revived.

OK, so here is how it works :

When you lose troops, 30% are lost forever, and 70% are put in the infirmary for revival. They then disappear from there after 7 days if you don't revive them before.

When your troops get killed defending your city, 10% of the previously quoted 70% are eligible for free revival. 10% is for a level 6 infirmary of course, so here use your actual free revival percentage instead.

WARNING : all the numbers are always rounded to the neareast integer value for each step, so sometimes, they can get rounded down to 0.

This also works for your losses : since the quantity of your troops that are killed is proportional to the attacker's offense to your defense ratio, your losses can sometimes get rounded down to 0 and you can lose none of some units.

Example :

You lose 10 units of the same kind (it's a very important point : each of them is treated separately, so take the roundings in account).

7 of them will end up in your infirmary.

If your free revival percentage is 9%, then it means 9% of 7 = 0.63 rounded up to 1 will be available for free revival (you do have to enter the infirmary and click on them, it's not automatic !), and 6 will be available for revival at 50% of their market cost. The 3 other ones are dead for good in the battle.

Now if your 10 units are actually 5 each of two different kinds, then roundings will disadvantage you instead of advantaging you :

70% of 5 is 3.5, rounded up to 4 in the infirmary (here you're advantaged by the numbers), then 9% of 4 is 3.6, rounded down to 0 -> you have no free revival for any of your two kinds of troops.

Is that clear now ? :)

Clear to me. Thanks. No more upgrades of the infirmary unless I have nothing else to do. Sofar that did not happen. :)

Infirmary should be 50% troop revival for free from incoming raids, 25% from Persian positions and Outgoing attacks.

I did not received single unit back from infirmary. If there is 700 archers listed and my infirmary lets me revive 14% for free I should see back 80 archers minimum. I got 0. Please explain why? I will level infirmary till 20% units and then stop. Seems this building is false and does not worth wasting resources. If you do not fix problem, please be kind and remove it with refunding resources for upgrading building. Not much lost but I do need them for building army I lost while trysting in something offered in game.

700 archers, 10% is 70 + 4% is 28 = 98 exactly should appear somewhere.

Please note that can you revive for free only those troops that were lost whilst defending your City. Units that have been lost on the Positions, Colonies, Pantheons, other Cities cannot be revived for free.

Heve you lost them in your City?

You can only revive units that were defending YOUR city. Anything else will not be revive for free. Also the infirmary does work .

Could there be a way that instead of using sapphires to get troops back we could use rss and it take a little time to get them back??
