Well isn't all the units in the screenshot legendary units? You never send them alone to a fight. So I was wondering about the other units you sent to die with them..

Level 5 walls + Paragon if active + Hero bonus + 10, 20 or 50% defense enhancer + 10 or 20% castle defense bonus from the black market
you really have to be careful hitting castles there are so many bonuses that can be applied so what you think is a small army can multiply in strength substantially - if the defender knew your raid was coming and had time there are so many things he could do
full screenshots would be helpful to see what actually happened

I think Gadheras may be correct, he sent just Legendaries with no supporting units...ouch!!

In reality though a couple dozen massive legendary dragons alongside those other fierce looking godlike beings should be able to wipe a mediocre castle defense on their own...I'm sure Daenerys could have wiped that castle with just the three dragons she had lol

Legendary in this game is a joke. Where in most other games Legendary and Epic is something rare and hard to work towards. Imagine GOT with 1000's of dragons... BORING :p

Did you spy again after the attack hit? It's possible someone sent him more troops before your attack hit. Also make sure to look at his walls. Full level 5 walls plus other defense bonus boosters can give like +300% to defense power of all units on a castle, and level 6-10 can give much more than that.

You lost 75% not 95%
This should mean that he lost around 25% so you can work out what he started with (or we could work it out if you provided decent screenshots)
What made you think he only had 700 griffins ..... or are you assuming he only had 700 because that is all that you killed?
You only get to see what died unless you win the battle

Reality and dragons in the same sentence...
Practically speaking, one would expect legendary units to kick butt and take names, like they do in other games. In Stormfall, they're just a stat boost masquerading as a unit and eating your food. Those fierce looking great westerns are cheerleaders while their littler breatheren do the work =P
As others already stated, castle battles are one of the more risky battles in the game specifically because there are so many boosts and bonuses your spy report doesn't tell you about. If the player is online to see you coming, there are quite a few bonuses they can activate and items they can use, making a seemingly small force suddenly stronger than 3x their number. But as an advice to NG_1528, never assume that your enemy is weak. Stormfall is a game of deception.

nice answer given here by Lord Snowgoon. if he saw on looses 700 griffs that amount is the percenteage you are talking about
i want to point that you all dont forget that when you send troops on raid your troops are weaker that when you send them on siege mode, i think some attack bonus are not applied in raid mode.
so, send first silent ones, then siegue and after siegue you can raid without so much looses as those
