I just saw the champion feature, but not a big announcement about it.
I saw it today for the first time. Is this a new feature or is it introduced long ago, because I saw a topic about it in July...

Champions is a new feature. It was added to Stormfall: Rise of Balur a few months ago. Now it's added to Stormfall: Age of War on Facebook.
In the future, it's planned to add this feature to plarium.com as well.

That what it sounds like. I looked on forum for it on Rise of Balur few weeks ago. Many were complaining about not getting these units easily as it is completely random.
Maybe to get collective points for bg events, otherwise completely useless content.

they provide some bonus to troops so you will kill more orcs with less looses so the bank will increase less what means the payout will take more time to be out

It will take more bgs before you get a payout, but you'll lose less troops on each one. So in the end it comes out the same, except that you get more tournament points, hero items, xp etc. since you're killing more bgs with the same troops.IronApex Turok said:

It also lead to faster leveling which is not always good. Also, getting more chests and stuff from bg's that require keys. And inventory filling up faster, and need more slots to store things, or spend to boost sales to clear up inventory. And it probably come with some added spending. well you have some classes of champions from I to V of course you can get champions I to III invokers killing zombies but for levels IV to V u only can get them on special offers like sages or the +50% boost, you know
you also need some kind of objects to upgrade them and of course that objects some of them also appears in special offers
really i still havent investigate so much about champions some of them are for beacons, some for fortress, some for raids and sieges, some for giving you some resources, some for spying, some for defending bgs, some for attacking bgs, and so. i think you have a champion for every operation in game and of course you have to upgrade rankings, habilietes, and iluminating all you are using
at the moment all bonuses they give are not so much, but i said i only am with them 2 days ago and havent had so much time to try all
i suppose the best classes will give you more bonuses
