It's to draw out the total content in the game (ie increase maximum play time).  You also have the option of spending sapphires to boost the upgrade speed of buildings.  Plarium is a for-profit company so they've gotta make money somehow.  Or if you're in a league you can ask them for help in boosting your upgrade time.

That might be true, but in terms of what they focus on make us spend on. Is terrible. Although boosters as time savers is a good business model. The current boosters in the game for cutting time for like long builds. Is not good.Whoever come up with what to spend on and sell on the market inside Plarium, probably never played a game in his life before.

Construction and Lost Art upgrade times were trebled by plarium because it was logical and justified - the massive extra revenue this generated was entirely coincidental

"The time needed for upgrading Lost Arts was increased mainly because the benefits you were receiving for their upgrading were long term, but the time needed to upgrade to further levels was not at all logical and justified.

We understand that such a change doesn't make your life easier but it is still our hope that this will not prevent you from enjoying the game, Lords and Ladies!"

wow!  once again the true plarium.

1.  our customers are receiving too much value.  nerf it!

2.  we know this impacts you negatively,  that you request positive impacts, but we know what is best for you so we deny your requests but knowingly increase the load on your time, effort and finances.

3.  we hope you will continue to pay the price.  and remember it is optional, no one is twisting your arm, it is your choice.

The looter’s methodology

Page 618: it’s surrender, if we leave---and surrender, if we remain. I don’t know what is right any longer. Check your premises, Dagny. Contradictions don’t exist.

Page 619: They know that you will bear anything in order to work and produce, because you know that achievement is man’s highest moral purpose, that he can’t exist without it, and that your love of virtue is your love of life. They count on you to assume any burden. They count on you to feel that no effort is too great in the service of your love. Dagny, your enemies are destroying you by means of your own power. Your generosity and your endurance are their only tools. Your unrequited rectitude is the only hold they have upon you. They know it. You don’t. The day when you’ll discover it, is the only thing they dread. You must learn to understand them. You won’t be free of them, until you do. But when you do you will reach a stage of rightful anger that you will blast every rail of Taggart Transcontinental, rather than let it serve them!

I disagree with: “that achievement is man’s highest moral purpose,”. However, the methodology is the same.

Plarium can say that every f2p is a moocher, however, every f2p, p2w and hybrid can say that plarium is a looter.

Well if you look at more successfull f2p games, you will notice their models more about concept of save time, vs grind. and cosmetic fluff such as skin, mounts, etc etc. Also items that affect ease of living. Such as extended inventory (bag space). In SWTOR you can get whole hanger tabs. In games such as D&D and Neverwinter, you can buy bigger bags and get a whole lot of slots free. In Stormfall's case of slots for relics and inveotry for hero, you have to pay for a SINGLE inventory slot.....

I wonder if majority of people playing browser games such as Stormfall, even venture into playing much outside their browsers, because there is so much more out there, that would make them go "OH REALLY?" whem compare to Stormfall and Plarium.

I think the game would be much improved if plarium removed the option to buy or revive troops with sapphires, and made their revenue off players spending to boost build/research times and buy additional item slots, teleporters, etc.  This would dramatically reduce the gap between paying and f2p players (you wouldn't have people running around with 200-300 million offense, going kamikaze into a beacon or castle, then buying it back and doing the same thing to another league a week later).  This is the model that most other strategy mmo games follow.

by successful, i am guessing you mean enjoyable and satisfied customers.  for some people the bottom line is the only factor in success.  and having the highest bottom line is a success for those making the money.  and idk of the financials of the game companies.

but yes the more enjoyable games offer more game content and fewer demands for p2w.  some games made most or all their money off of cosmetic/non p2w mtx.  others offer convenience purchases, making the game more efficient. (even subscription games offer these).  and there are sub games that offer a certain amount of p2w purchases as well.  what the enjoyable games have in common;  are enjoyable growth paths through gameplay.  which makes a sub as well as some add-on mtx worth it.

this game however, what little value there is, is stripped away, and plarium hopes "that this will not prevent you from enjoying the game,"

i prefer a few of the long term rpg games online,  but console games are a blast.  i agree with you that i do not understand spending money on a game that flushes your resources down the toilet, when for less you can buy a stack of enjoyable console games. that you can keep for decades.

my point is simply,  growth paths through gameplay and don't nerf the little value that does exist, but rather be generous and over-give value to your customers.  i don't care if some one can over spend to win.  i just want a chance to compete through gameplay.  and if i am given that chance then engagements are not game-ending but they do provide mtx by coiners taking losses.

all games are grinds in the long term build your character on-line games, i am willing to do this, but the absolute lack of respect as a human, not just a customer has to stop,  the manipulations.  the calculations that i am receiving too much value as it is, let alone how dare i ask for more.

in my post i addressed the manipulation of players based on the entire point of why we play online games.  not about the gap between f2p and p2w.  but my answer to that is multiple growth paths, (rather than resource sinks).

it seems now that even the p2w players are quitting,  so competing with them is becoming less likely, due to their not being in the game at a future date.  when they are gone, most likely so will the game.

Lords and Ladies, I want to remind you that Stormfall: Age of War is a real time strategy. In real like it takes a lot of time to build or buy a house, to learn something new or to reach a goal. Same here, there's no way to get everything in a few days. Developing always require much time.

Stormfall isn't strategy. Several times we proved that, and you can read about that in old posts.

Stormfall isn't strategy and here there is no balance. Stop repeating that.

On the other hand, truth is exactly opposite of what you said. If you are coiner you CAN get everything just in few days/weeks.

Again, we'are asking for years to Plarium change that, and now I have a simple question:

what you can transfer from forum to developers when you obviously don't understand what we're asking from developers?

Why are upgrade times and costs much higher in Stormfall than in other Plarium games? (Pirates: Tides of Fortune for example)

lol two years and I still don't have level 12 crystals ...

buildings and lost arts were completed within the first 6 months of game play until the recently added levels and will i purchase sketches to complete them all?  Nope ... but i do appreciate the ones we can earn in the tournaments perhaps you should even it out and reward them more often for the non coiners

Yes, it takes time to upgrade buildings, Lost Arts etc. in Stormfall, but it's the way the game was created from the very beginning. Moreover, for the last two years we've added different ways so you can do it faster if you want to.

My Lords,

don't forget that upgrading is taking much more time when you're reaching actual highest possible levels.

Stomfall is like real life. Everything in life has its cost... in resources or in time.

Well if you going to compare Stormfall to real life. It would be like go to a resturant. First you have to pay the staff to make the meal, then you would have to pay for the actual food on top. Once you done eating, you had to do your own dishes.

Not a big issue with higher level buildings require longer time. Got big issue with higher level buildings require sketches though.

Well, everything has a value. I agree with Nemanja, one way or another, you can save your Resources or time.
