Class 1 affects infantry
Class 2 affects infantry and cavalry
Class 3 affects infantry, cavalry and occult
Class 4 affects infantry, cavalry, occult and bestiary
The rarity (shown by color) determines the amount of boost you get from the item.
Normal (gray) give the smallest bonus, uncommon (green) give a larger bonus, rare (blue) are better still, and legendary (purple) give the highest bonus. Higher rarity items are slightly more expensive to upgrade than lower rarity, and higher class items are much more expensive to upgrade than lower class items.
