The best advice I could give is if you are not really good with money and able to say NO to a 'bargain' then you should get out now.

join an active and helpful league - make sure you participate in the league chat and ASK QUESTIONS
there is a lot to learn and starting out can be overwhelming
follow your personal quest lines, raid and build daily, raid inactive castles for resources this will keep you out of trouble :)
build troops specifically for battle grounds don't use your entire army hoping for a payout that may not happen
use only what you can afford to lose for pvp - using your entire army for pvp can also result in losing your entire army - ask the higher level experienced players advice on how to best approach the game in regards to bg's, pvp and how to effectively maximize rewards in tournaments
max rewards are not always the way to go 5k or 10k is usually the better place to stop with pvp and bg
don't get lured into spending money

Web browser games are a joke. This just a farmville the developers made for greed. Also boring most the time.....

You are a socialist, join a league of loners and young people,
You are PvP, join a league full of spenders, and CEO's
You are a Noob, with big wallet, join a team of noobs like KT.
You fun must come first, have it always, Its a game, only if you have fun. And winning in MMO is a broad term, BG, PvP, and socializing are jut some aspects of it.
Use them to have fun.

Be ready to spend an awfull lot of money if you want to go anywhere, without spend years to get there.
