Imposters!

This is a note to let people know that a new batch of imposters are in town.

Imposter:  a person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others, especially for fraudulent gain.

Mayhem   http://prntscr.com/bj4am3

They have been running around hitting our allies and trying to cause problems.

It's sad that some people are so weak and lacking of character, that they have the pose as someone else and try to do things like that.

Destiny is now aware of this league and will attack and harras them till they either quit the game or disband the league.

Thanks for the content imposters, we look forward to wiping you out :)

Test, it's a one man league and his alts. Look at the start dates of the members. It has to been a "sleeper" alt league.

My guess is that all the troops in the marshals castle are his own alt troops.

In any kind of serious game the developers would be on this quickly and sorting it out.

We have had the leagues with names and member names that mock people as well. Worth a chuckle sometimes but ultimately that led to a serious problem when the flaming stepped over the line.

Plarium don't seem to want to police their own game for obvious infringements - so its the wild West out there.

Reason I assume is that it's too much time and effort - they like to collect money, not spend it on maintaining the quality of the game for the players.

Problem is how do you actually police whether or not a league or player is mocking another- in a game where it seems to have a very large amount of players you surely cannot expect the developers to second guess every player or league name that comes up and ban names on an assumption that it may be mocking another.

Yes we are aware of this Aaron which is what makes it so much easier for the higher level players to hit those alts and kill his builds.  Everyone go farm them and get a handful of pvp points their res is usually full!!!  Have fun!!

As an example to fix the case raised by the OP.

Database search on league name, is that league name contained within another league name, add to error log. Error log thrown out to human moderator for review.

Above could be written in a couple of lines of code.

To reduce server and human workload, just run the check each time a league is created or a league name is created, e-mail human moderator if potentially suspect name is found.

My understanding is League names are unique- if someone really wants to do a parody of another league who really cares- imitation is the best form of flattery; and they are not trademarked (I am aware of some hardcore gamers looking to do so however).

Imitation of names has happened in all of the 20+ MMORPG's I have played in. And where do you draw the line? How do you distinguish between intent? I believe your league is King of Kings- what if I want to call my League say Killers of Kings (a name of an alliance in another game I played and was in for a period of time) and bring some of my old alliance mates over to play? Would this be a 'breach' because someone has determined (even though not the same name it is close) it upsets someones sensibilities? I have seen an alliance called Destiny's Path- if those guys came over with their name would this be a breach?

My opinion is that it is a game, have fun and imitation is the best form of flattery so just chill :)

There is a pretty big difference between a league coming over with it's own unique name, and someone making a league, with an Identical league emblem, and just adding a period before or after the name, especially when our sister league is called Destiny.

An imposter league making one called .Destiny and using our symbol is just blatent BS.

I'm all for people making their own leagues, with their own symbols, and making their own names.  The issue occurs when someone so flagrantly abuses what they are allowed to do, when it's obvious to everyone out there what is being done and how it is incorrect.

To really bring this point home with some clarity, you're good with someone using this symbol:  http://prntscr.com/bktyve

and calling themselves DEATH INC and running around hitting all of your league and your leagues allies.

not that I agree with this copycat approach, but as far as I am aware, Destiny and the logo are not in any way under copyright protection of some sorts. I may also add that it is the property of Plarium. As long as they don't violate Plarium's gaming rules they've done nothing wrong.

They'd be flattered I'm sure but please, double check again which league I'm with, thanks :-)
