CHAT HACK

I am a member of Dragon'sThieves and had a run in with the knights Templar who reported that they are hacking league chats. Is This Possible?

[19:58] Capt_Mork_D_KTII : Sir Svanduffelen I wish to leave no ill feeling in your league from your actions yesterday. I will first say this matter is resolved. Please do not have ill feeling in your league, I say this to you as you may harbour feeling towards your team mates who confronted you in your league chat about this attack, I refer to muppet and 1 other. These were not your league players I had their identies and your league chat hijacked..... you were not talking to your league, these players were offline at the time, you were talking direct to two KT p

I Have spoken to muppet and he swears he was not online. I will not repeat the conversation I had as it was very rude and disturbing, but if the above is true I would see the whole league banned.

Lord Svanduffelen,

Its possible if players were communicating through in game chat cause its regionally based. I strongly advise you to use Fb group chat instead.

Let me translate for you Nemanja.

He is saying that the marshal of a league told him that this players accounts had been hacked and he had not been talking to the rightful owners in league chat but people who had hacked into the accounts to cause trouble.

In my experience a huge proportion of hacking is in fact not hacking but down to account sharing. People give out their log in and passwords and then are amazed later that  "someone is on their account".

But if the account details were truly obtained by hacking then this would be a HUGE problem that would need URGENT attention.

That is what I understand happened as well? It's a bit confusing, but apparently one of our players received a report that the chat "spoofing" was going on, and passed the information to the affected player as well as to KT leadership.  I have no idea how it's possible, but I would suspect it's something along the lines of how your email can be hijacked and messages sent with your return email on them.  I don't think it's a matter of account sharing in this case. We are investigating this and will report our findings to Plarium Support.

People is to fast to use the label hacking once something happen. Soical engineering at best, or people being reckless with their use of login and passwords. (use the same several places etc). I guess someone could breach the Plarium servers and gain access to the user details, but that probably would been something we would heard about.

Other is if you somehow get a trojan etc on your computer. But any decent virus scanner should deal with such. You would need to enable for someone to take control.

Once in over 10 years of online gaming I had a issue. And that was due to Rockstar had a breach. Found my social club account in the hand of some russian dude, but got it back.

If you have an alt inside a league you can change your alts name to match any of the league members names so that when you talk it looks like someone else is talking.

I think it should be a bit harder to change your name, and each name should be only allowed once. I get frustrated with some people who change names constantly, then expect you to know who they are. I don't know about you guys, but I don't memorize coordinates.

Imho, all your league history and name changes should been listed on your profile, public.

I add suspicious players to my contacts list with a note of their name, co-ords and level, just in case ;)
