Restore Balance to the Game

The revival of the old thread "Units will not be dismissed" has gotten me thinking - I will probably get murdered for suggesting this but why not change this back to the old system where if you did not have food you would lose units - with all the game updates one could still potentially have a big army but balance could be restored to the game

Before this change units in catacombs were not lost, units in people's castles for WOD's and on beacons were not lost - the only time units were lost was if they were sitting in your castle or travelling on a mission

WAIT!!! before you all get up in arms about this suggestion .... you can upgrade your farms to Level 25 which you could not before, you can buy 25% boosts and also 50% food consumption reductions, you can also upgrade your catacombs to level 26 so you will not lose new builds - you can use teleports and spells to speed up your units on their missions so there is no need for them to be outside of your castle for a long time - THIS is the only way to create any type of game balance - it would take 6 months to a year but eventually the people with massive armies would be brought down to scale a bit and then there may be more incentive for others to spend MODERATELY on this game

the MODERATE spending would come from the need to upgrade farms and catacombs and the spells and teleports etc

There would be fewer league stacked castles as one could potentially defend on their own without losing everything

Just food for thought - I know many will be opposed but how else can balance be restored?

You have a reasonable train of thought but like I have told others, please, consolidate your thoughts and put it in the Suggestion thread.

Thats why we need "discussion" so that ideas can be added before putting it to the suggestion thread otherwise we may miss some viable and valuable contributions from other players

there would be more activity level which would equal more spending but not huge spending of 10% of the player base but moderate spending of maybe 30 - 40% of the player base - in the long run a steady income stream of happy active players - I would be more than willing to lose a portion of my army for that change

This is a horrible idea. You all need to think it through more.

I got large to the point of negative food before the update without coining. My game simply ended. There was no point to raiding as any troops que'ed up would simply die as they were produced.

For 3 months I did nothing and nearly quit the game due to bordem, too many days with nothing to do.

Then they did the food update and I could have a game again - best update ever.

Conversely negative food didn't set the uber coiners back at all. They bought troops which went directly to their cats - no food issue. Buy one pack of food as the troops return from fights, to avoid losses. No impact to coiner. And now their troops would go straight to cats from most fights due to the returning from beacons update.

So actually what you are asking for is an update that would cap non coiners progress while doing NOTHING to impact coiners at all. The impact of what you suggest is absolutely the opposite of what you want.

THE ONLY way to return balance is for Plarium to end the days of being able to buy infinite troops, immediately. Seeing as that is never going to happen due to commercial considerations......

Also at the end of your post you suggest the coining is causing a defence problem - when actually the coining created uber hammers which unbalanced the game. Super offence is the game destroyer not super defence.
Everyone has a right to an opinion. No one has a right to their opinion being respected by other if it can't be backed up with rational and logic explanation

You can run with negative food without losing troops if you had your farms upgraded and ran a negative 20k food production all you would have to do is raid a few castles to have food enough to last 8-10 hours - the need to raid in order to keep your army would make the game more active - by upgrading the catacombs you could build without losing a single troop - and you might actually use your troops more to kill some off and build some more - trade small units for eldrich troop rewards as we used to do a couple years ago

Not losing troops due to negative food production made the uber coining worse

that was my point - most people cannot defend against these massive armies

Don't get me wrong I rather like having a reasonably big army and don't mind running a high negative food balance but there needs to be some kind or reprieve to get the game back in balance

Any other suggestions would be welcome

I did like the slower build times suggestion for those who are running a high food negative

Also a "cap" on how many troops you can actually buy at one time

How about limiting the amount of food you can actually buy in the market? there has never been a cap on that ....

DJ I think that was the point, you were maxed on troops so you actually had to use it on something.... not just sit and build your army forever.

With fully upgraded farms (and with 2 lovar's blessing relics, which most people have by now) you can easily feed 250mil offense without going negative on food production.  It would be possible to keep 400mil+ you'd just have to open a few 30k food packs before pulling your troops out of the catacombs.

I agree, there should especially be a cap on how many troops you can revive during the 75% discount, as this can currently be used to gain massive armies relatively cheaply.  It could be a fairly high cap (like 30 mil offense or defense), just low enough to keep people from rapidly coining 500mil+ armies.

In my opinion the issue is this:

- there is no revive limit.

- there is no buy unit limit.

If they put back the food ...so what? A coiner will smash your beacon and revive after.

But we have limits...we have a lot of them:

It has already been discussed on forum. We will not reverse the update which happened 2 years ago :) It's a step forward for our game, and we want to see more epic battles.

Gone are the days of strategy. As Star wars says "Democracy died with cheers" , well so did Strategy, with Cheers from the mods seeing their player base and game as it went up in flames.

Moderators have no control over what changes are made to the game, you're thinking of the developers.

Life isn't fair, so why would games be? :) There's always someone stronger, faster, or richer than you. Same in the game - there are players with bigger armies, more Resources, better equipment. You can't do anything about that. You can only learn how to deal with that and continue enjoying your game.

It reminds me of the good old days in Aika 2, where the enchantment could make you, that average players (as me at that time), couldn't deal you more than 1 dmg (not 1k, just 1 point). And imagine such a player running with a relic, surrounded by the crowd of a hundred people that can't even scratch him. And he also fights back killing most of them with a single AoE hit.

You could say that it was unfair that one player that used in-app purchases could be that strong. But nobody was crying or whining. We were training to work in teams to control him, so his allies couldn't actually benefit from his strength as they used to.

Strategic games are different, I agree. But there's always an option.

its not always that bigger players win. We have learned a lot of that in real life, USA vs Vietnam, USA vs Ethiopia. it depend on strategy and the end goal. With many other things being put into play. Espionage,Time , Leadership , Military doctrine and Moral influence are also involved.

Just because something isn't a lie does not mean that it isn't deceptive. A liar knows that he is a liar, but one who speaks mere portions of truth in order to deceive is a craftsman of destruction.....Gedleyihlekisa: Oracle the postremogeniture
