This looks like an uncleared cache issue. Have you tried clearing your browser's cache after receiving the report?

What report?
There are no reports to tell you that units have returned.
I can only assume that you are referring to reports generated from successful attacks on Hamlets - These units are automatically returned to your Catacombs, and this is made clear on all instructions and help files

If you are referring to normal battle reports, then it will often take over an hour for your units to walk home

Please return my units and check what is wrong.When you got a report of any reinfocements being returned it doesn't mean it has reached your castle, it's on the way. Try checking 'tracking units' or click on returning troops on bottom left corner.
