My question: "Does anyone know if you send reinforcements to an ally or just friend, will the other players Lost arts effect your troops? Or will your lost arts still buff the troops you sent? I'm aware that relics are not supposed to buff allied troops reinforcing someone, and shards buff, but what happens with lost arts?"

Only thing that will affect your troops is the defence stats of his/her castle.

Where can we find that confirmation? I sent my friend 3.7m in defence, I have 35% walls. He sent me a screen shot and to send my troops back it totalled 2.7m defence, and he only has 15% bonus walls. The math dosen't make sense
Well, your level of troops and relics/boosts + his defence stats, should make up your troops total defence value.
Anything that affects the Castle itself should affect defense sent from another player, but Lost Arts only affect your own troops. The Dragon Art - Protector - would work on any troops in the castle, but not - Dragon Scales - since that is for your troops only. That's something that can be checked since you can test with it activated and not activated.Ahh perfect! Now what I'm trying to grasp is why the 3.7m turns into 2.7m when my friend clicks Return for my units that I had sent? My guess is that Stormfall hides what I've discovered in my Lost Arts from other players? The 40% bonuses seem to be completely gone from the troops he has not researched to the same level as myself yet, for example I have up to griffons 40%, however he is still working on barbarians so everything above those units do not appear to have any Lost Art bonus when he showed me a screenshot of Returning my troops

Potentially, he had archers researched and the archers I sent him, when he sent them back they were not given a basic level 1 defence ranking but actually had his lost arts show up for the archers.

If you look there is no lost art at all influencing the griffons defence when you return an allys troops, I hope this somewhat explained what was confusing me

Imagine you have double digit number of players defending you, and everyone was fully visible to you with their their full stats. Probably much less strain on the servers to just have them show base stats for you.
