it doesn't seem to be based on powers of 2, but rather extracted from pythagorean triplet list (80, 120, 168, 224, 228, 360...)
besides, keep in mind you need to downgrade a fortress, in order to unlock your fortress upgrade

Unless I misunderstood something, we can see how much glory points/tomes used in league resource history on the fortress.

and waiting it will be. despite the last put-together-in-a-day tournament, with what appear nice rewards for the fortress, it's just another joke, sorry to say.
to obtain the max reward, you had to collect 500k PvP points. for 90k glory points, and 8k tomes, if i'm not mistaken.
and even as a league, 500k PvP IS costly for players, regardless their level. (i'm talking about regular players, not those heavy coiners)
90k glory points will allow you to upgrade your fortress to level 8, if all goes well.
8k tomes will unlock a lvl 5 bonus.
that's, AT BEST, what you'd get in exchange of heavy troop losses. and not a regular basis; i don't think we're going to have such tournament every 2 days. so what will it be? once week? twice a month?
and those levels are "easy" to achieve, but what about upgrading the fortress to level 10? or a defense bonus to lvl 15? the amounts of points needed for such achievements represent a huge numbers of tournaments!
and, on top of that, players don't get any units as reward, the 500 sapphires rewarded are almost an insult! what do you get for 500 sapphires?! it's clear this tournament was poorly thought out and put together in a hurry
all in all this is nothing but a fancy lure, to trade our units for glory and tome points...
