why the fortress is a joke

among many flaws, i'd like to point out an "amusing" fact regarding the new fortress:

to upgradre the infantry defense to lvl 1, you need 200 tomes. next level requires 400, next level 800... last level will require 104857600 tomes. roughly 105 million. which is totally abberant, already.

but if we get tomes only from league quests, at a maxium total of 90 tomes every 24 hrs (IF you reach the elite reward), that's a total of 1165078 days, or if you prefer, 3191 years!

and that's only to upgrade from lvl 19 to lvl 20.

i could elaborate on the total of days, sorry years, it would take to complete all 20 lvls, or the fact that to unlock bestiary defense bonus, you need to complete infantry, cavalery then occult, first, therefore to unlock lvl20 bestiary defense, you need to complete infantry lvl20, then cavalery lvl20 and at last occult lvl 20.

but i think i've already proved my point.

so, unless plarium comes up with HUGE tomes rewards, i don't see why even bothering with fortress at all...

I'm going to be honest, you are the first person to complain about tomes.

In Fortress, do I see only my tomes or total tomes of league?

lol I didn't even know the tome requirement follow 2^n*100 formula (Havnt really worked on it lol)

But that amount of tomes is ridiculous to say the least.

Hello Lord Drogar61,

You see the tomes league-wide. (Same thing for the Glory Points) So the tomes shown, can be obtained by other league members.

being the first one doesn't mean i'm wrong to complain about it.

i could push the debate further, if you want. and assuming a league could gather 900 tomes per day, instead of 90, it'd still take 320 years to collect enough to upgrade from lvl 19 to lvl 20

and a total of 639 years to complete all 20 defense infantery levels.

and at an amazing rate of 90.000 tomes per day, it will still be 6 years and 6 months! come on, and tell me you don't find that ludicrously hilarious!

Never said you were wrong about the times to unlock stuff, just making an observation :)

i think we can all predict the future of fortress: lvl5 for most, lvl8 for the richest, or the most patient. and bonuses upgraded to what? maybe lvl5, at best? once done this and that, it will just be laying there, and yield a meagre 5% bonus...

Keep in mind that the fortress update is subject to change at any time ;) It could happen any day now.

Dear Lords and Ladies,

We have considered all the feedback that we received about this feature so far and we will be making changes in the nearest future.

1. You will receive more Glory Points in the Tournaments.

2. You will be able to see the defense/offence stats of the Units stationed in your Fortresses.

We thank you for your criticism and we hope to improve the feature very soon with one of the next updates.

true but then why hurry to release a major update so flawed...

i see the glory pts allowance has been revisited, to what extent that remains to be seen, but it's a start. now what about the tomes?

i believe any in-game action that'd take more than a month (and that's already A LOT), would kill players interest. and as is, the cost (in tomes) and upgrade times are surreal...

how could no one at plarium saw that expecting players would try and collect 105 million of tomes was illusory...

I still to this day haven't been able to play with fortresses, but it is due to an isolated issue, so I haven't had time to "feel it out".

But I believe the update is being looked at and changes should occur, I don't know much more then that.

Sometimes a feature would go live before all its flaws are discovered. This is a reality of game development. We never intend this to happen, but there will always be bugs and oversights despite all the testing. We ask for your understanding and thank you for bearing with us while we're improving the game.

i understand bugs and glitches, unfortunately part of the software development process but those points aforementioned are flaws, not bugs.

if no one at plarium foresaw this, then you'd consider rethinking your SQA and SQC. alpha and beta phases are usually included in this set of procedures. maybe you'd implement those features, with a group of selected players.

food for thought...

I don't think there is much in the way of beta and alpha stages. As there is no test server afaik. There seems to be push an update and cross your fingers -)

If they brought players more aboard and asked us what we would like to see of changes and features, and then some form of actual communication with us in terms of development and such. I would love to see devblogs with stuff being worked on, what we can expect of changes and such down the line.

So did people literally pull the number of glory points and tomes needed to level up versus the rewards we get out of a hat at random.

Simple maths like that done by the poster shows this was messed up from inception.

Not about coding or anything remotely difficult, this was horrendous game design (or just cynically putting the rewards out of the reach of being earned and sapphire only). Who knows..... utterly stupid or utterly greedy. It's one of the other though.

FYI there was a teamspeak meeting between major league this weekend. This update was utterly condemn by absolutely everyone. The level of discontent went as far as some calling for sapphire boycotts. Just to let you know how seriously the player base feel about this failed update... (which represents the only truely new content in 1.5yrs)

Everyone has a right to an opinion. No one has a right to their opinion being respected by other if it can't be backed up with rational and logic explanation

It might be a good idea for plarium to listen to the players first before bringing out new content , just a suggestion but maybe give every one of the players a chance to vote on new content first before it is forced upon us.

I have made recommendations for this previously and was told it is something that could be looked into.

This was not the intent, and the glory points should hopefully be changed very shortly.
