Gateways of Chance and Precision!

New Feature: Gateways of Chance & Precision!

Relocate your Castle to New Coordinates! Gain the Strategic Advantage!

Lords and Ladies!

Have neighborhood trolls become too bothersome? Would you like to live closer to your Beacons or League Members? If so, then I have great news!

From this day forward, you shall be able to relocate your Castle to a new location on the Map by using Relocation Gateways! On the Map, you will see new places called Vacant Lots. These are designated locations to which you can move your Castle. When a Castle is relocated, it will leave behind a Vacant Lot. Vacant Lots cannot be raided, besieged, spied upon, etc.

Relocation Gateways are special items that are used to change the location of a Castle. There are 2 types of Gateways:

1. Gateways of Chance are used to relocate a Castle to a RANDOM Vacant Lot.

2. Gateways of Precision are used to relocate a Castle to a specific Vacant Lot.

Once you have relocated your Castle, you will need to wait about 5 minutes before you may use another Relocation Gateway.

BE ADVISED: Once you relocate your Castle, you CANNOT move it back to its previous coordinates.

To obtain one of these new Items, go to the “Misc.” section of the Black Market, select the “Special” tab, then choose the Item you would like to purchase.

Charge boldly into a Relocation Gateway! Expand your horizons and improve your Castle’s strategic value!

And when will the stormfall gnomes seed the market with the actual gateways?

What's the rule so that inactive castles become vacant? a month inactivity? 2 months? And what if those players decided to come back?

Excuse me but if you are going to allow relocations then at least give us the first one for free.  I will not be recommending this game to friends if you have to pay to move the first time.

People who were sieging the low level inactives that have now become vacant lots are not happy about this.  It arbitrarily damaged some player's siege rankings significantly in the last few days before weekly rankings...and for a feature that you have to pay to use.

I'm not sure I like this change.  Aside from the theft of properties players were sieging, this now allows powerful players who have the sapphires to do it to warp around the map and launch devastating attacks with no warning.

Add in the fact troops no longer desert when you don't have enough food to support them, and we're likely to see teleporting PvP hunters with insane armies just teleporting in, stomping everyone in the area, then teleporting to the next area to harvest points.

I assume that I can dodge an incoming attack with these portals.  So if I'm logged in to see an incoming raid, 1k sapphires makes me pretty much impregnable.

Related questions:

1) What if I'm lucky enough to relocate just as somebody launches 10 fireballs at me.  Do they get to launch 10 more at my new location, or do they have to wait 24 hours?

2) What if I can't break a siege of my castle?  Can I just relocate to escape the siege?

Wait a minute, I just thought about that!  It works both ways.  So the only way I can successfully raid another player now is if they're not logged in or they're poor?

want someone to quit. port a few players next to him and raid in timed waves so that he cant do anything.

for players that spend coin, you have just been granted vampire like powers, with impunity.

you may now appear out of thin air, attack attack attack, then vanish back into the midst from whence you came.

a 5 day cool down before you can port a castle would have been a good idea. that way you are stuck someowhere and have to face the repercussion of your move.

Yeah, I played a game once with this feature. The game died within a year after the feature was introduced and was shut down. Developer went bankrupt, i think. (Publisher did did fine though)

Most f2p games the consequence of new features is more based on how much cash they can make of it, not what it actual does to the game itself and the players. Spending 4k saphires to keep move around a lot, is quite pricy though. Also the slot to move to need to be vaccant, so be able to move right next to your target might he hard, but closer? sure..

It definitely does give cash players (and to a more limited extent, free players) more tactical options and a lot of power.

There are a lot of possibilities that the forum announcement has not yet laid out.

How does teleporting affect friendly and unfriendly units?  If you have troops out and teleport away, will the troops go to the empty lot and be lost or will they magically know where you are and march to your new home?  Will teleporting away allow you to avoid raids and sieges (as a player earlier in the thread theorized)?

Aside from the cost, is there really anything to limit player's ability to teleport all over the map and stomp people?  I know there are far fewer empty lots as you get closer to where the newer players are, but are there any other limits?

It will be interesting to see what tactics are born from this new ability.  Hopefully it'll be used for good and not just to stomp weaker players on a larger scale.

Lords online?  that was a great game, but i think the ability to port castles killed it.

Hmmm, a good idea but badly implemented. :(

I have also played a game that had this ability to move. However, they made it available 2 EVERYONE.!

The first few wks, these items were not too abundant, but after a month or so they became plentiful enough.

That game also had a much better market than this game does. Unlike this market, that one gave EVERY player a hope & a chance of making enough currency to afford most, if not all items in the game. It allowed almost all items in the game to be traded between players.

These movement items were also common drops in the game. Various strategies were employed by people using these items. Some people used lots of them whilst others used very few, if any. (those not used could be sold in the market, like other items). Despite w/e prices charged by the game for items, most days U could get bunches of 10 or 20 or w/e no. of these items for nominal prices like 5 or 10. Built in, there was also a `Alliance Only`, (League only), feature that allowed the sale of items only to Alliance members. Often players would give, `sell` items of much greater value, for minimum currency, in that case, minimum was 10.

Example: someone could, if they had them & wanted to, could sell an amount of up to 999, 50% Army Boosters for 10 currency. (on here, sapphs), to a league member. (or any other person if that`s what they wanted to do).

As some players above, have pointed out, this in it`s present form only favours cash players & is certainly in danger of killing off the game.!! :(

If Plarium were to price these items appropriately, eg. 1 sapph for a chance & maybe 3 sapphs for a precision, then & only then would I for 1 consider actually using them. So probs. would the MAJORITY of players. Otherwise, well done Plarium, U have invested I dont  know how much time in developing these things for the game that many r simply NEVER going to use.!

People like me are hardcore & can take all the hits any leagues care to send, (but in this, I am a minority.!), & dont need 2 move anywhere. :)

I am a 100% f2p player & it`s because of totally out of touch things like this, that mean I am never likely 2 spend a single penny on any of these games. Only 1 has come close.! :)

Thank you for the feedback, we actually may change the price or make the item free as a drop in the future. Everything can change and is subject to improvement

FAQ: Gateways of Precision and Gateways of Chance

Lords and Ladies!

We have compiled a practical list of answers to common questions, so that you can relocate your Castle with confidence.

Basic Questions about Gateways of Precision and Gateways of Chance

Question (Q): What Gateways of Precision and Gateways of Chance? How are they different?

Answer (A): Gateways of Precision are special items used to relocate a Castle to the coordinates of your choice on the Map. Gateways of Chance are used to relocate a Castle to RANDOM coordinates on the Map.

Q: What is a Vacant Lot?

A: Vacant Lots are special zones where other Castles can be moved. Vacant Lots cannot be raided, reconned, etc. When a Castle Relocates, its original coordinates turn into a Vacant Lot. If a player is inactive for an extremely long time, their Castle will turn into a Vacant Lot. When that player logs in again, their Castle will be automatically relocated.

Transportation of Troops & Caravans to and from Relocated Castles

(Q): What happens to another Player’s Troops that are moving to my Castle while it is being relocated?

(A): If another player sends Troops to your Castle while it is being relocated, they will be returned to their owner’s Catacombs. Oberon will inform the other Player of any returned Units in a special message.

Q : What happens to another Player’s Troops (Besiege Forces/ Reinforcements) that are in my Castle while it is being Relocated?

A: Reinforcement Troops, and Troops actively invading your Castle, will Relocate to the new coordinates along with your Castle.

Q: What happens to my Troops that are moving to another player’s Castle at the time of my Castle's Relocation?

A: Your troops will continue travelling to their destination. Travel time to their destination will not change. However, the travel time of their return will be calculated based on the new location of your Castle.

Q: What happens to my Troops (Besiege Forces/Reinforcements) that are in another Player’s Castle while my Castle is being relocated?

A: They will stay at the target Castle and remain unaffected.

Q: What happens to Troops (Besiege Forces/ Reinforcements) in my Castle, if their owner’s Castle is turned into a Vacant Lot?

A: Such Troops will stay in your Castle and remain unaffected.

Q: What happens if I send Troops and/or Caravans to a Castle that becomes a Vacant Lot while they are travelling there?

A: Your Troops would return to your Catacombs immediately. Caravans that were NOT sent via the Market will continue travelling to the new location of the target Castle (this may cause travel time to increase). They will deliver their supplies and return to your Castle, empty.

Q: A player creates an offer at the Market, then Relocates his or her Castle. Where do the Caravans go when the offer is accepted?

A: Caravans sent via the Market will always travel to a Castle using the coordinates which are indicated at the moment of the trade offer’s acceptance. If those coordinates are a Vacant Lot by the time the Caravan arrives, the Resources and/or Lost Arts will be delivered to an empty space, and no one will receive them. The Caravans will then return, empty, to their senders.

Q: What happens to another player’s Caravans that are on their way to my Castle while I am Relocating?

A: Provided that the Caravans were not dispatched via the Market, the other player’s Caravans will travel on to your Castle's new coordinates. This may cause travel time to increase. The Caravans will deliver their cargo and return empty to their sender.

Joint Attacks

Q: What happens to my Troops that are participating in a Joint Attack at the time of my Castle's Relocation?

A: Your Troops would continue moving to the target. Troops’ travel time won’t be affected.

Q: What happens to my troops that are returning from a Joint Attack at the time of my Castle's on?

A: Your Troops would continue moving to your Castle. Troops’ travel time won’t be affected.

Wrath of Weor

Q: What happens to Wrath of Weor fired at my Castle while it is being relocated?

A: Wrath of Weor would return to their owner’s Castle.

Q: What happens to Wrath of Weor I fire at other Castle while my Sector is being relocated?

A: The Wrath of Weor would reach the target, and their travel time would not be affected.

Battlegrounds and Saga Quests

Q: What happens to my Troops travelling to or from a Battleground or Saga Quests at the time of my Castle's Relocation?

A: Your Troops’ travel time to and from these destinations will be unaffected. Battleground or Saga Quests objectives will move along with your Castle. When you reach your new coordinates, these locations may appear to be located differently, but the distance between them and your Castle will stay the same.

About Battle Reports

Q: I have a Battlle Report on a Castle that is relocated. What happens to the data on this Report?

A: If a battle takes place before Relocation is completed, the Report will contain the target Castle's old coordinates. If a battle takes place after Relocation is completed, the Report will contain the target Castle's new coordinates.

Contacts

Q: What happens to my Contacts for Castles that Relocate?

A: Your Contacts will automatically update to reflect the Castle’s new locations. This data should update within 10 minutes of a Castle's Relocation. If it does not, try refreshing the page.

Q: What happens to my Contact of a Castle that is automatically turned into a Vacant Lot due to the owner’s inactivity?

A: These coordinates would remain the same. Because the owner of this Castle is inactive, when you click on the coordinates, you will see a Vacant Lot. In the future, these coordinates will be displayed as question marks, i.e., x: ??, y:?? .

My Lord, I thank you for the information regarding the relocating  abilities as you've described, however I am new here and not yet sure that I even have a castle  to move  should I so desire.  My ears are open to your suggestions and I would value your judgement and wisdom in stride.
