Expansion Idea

Hi,

I had an idea for expanding the game by adding Celtic units. Since Brenus sacked Rome which led to Rome eventually becoming the military empire it would be known for, I thought adding Celtic units would be a good expansion.  For Light offense unit you could use Helvetii Slinger and for Light Defense unit Boresti Crossbowman. Yes crossbows were used (except a very early version of the concept) by the Pictish tribes as far back as 300 B.C.E. For Heavy Infantry you could add Arverni Champion (using a longsword) and Catuvellauni War Chariot.

Additionally you could add champion units such as Druid for the Celts and Roman Onager and add such city schemes as Celtic Hill Fort or Roman Provincial Capital.

thanks

Your idea is not bad, though it kinda gets out of the main subject of the game..Spartan's never fought celtic tribes as far as I am concerned. If the game was called 'Rome' Then for sure it would have been a great Idea :)

Maybe Plarium should Intoduce a new game which is based on Roman times :) I would love to see and play that!

Thank you for this suggestion. May I ask you to give more details? Also I would like to know if other players support this idea.

What about to add 20 new units for every unit group (offence light infantry, defense light infantry...)? Not a bad idea.

Spartans never had relocation pools and war elephants either lol Plarium isn't exactly best known for their historical accuracy

I support the idea of new troops

No spartans did not have elephants either relocation pools..For the elephants, they had on that period of time.Greek city states from pergamon and other ones that belonged to the spartan alliance actually had war elephants. Relocation pools, did you really say that brother? :)

Hi Hack,

The Greeks actually did have interactions with the Celts, while they were not Britannic in origin the Dacians and several other peoples to the North of the Danube were Celt in origin. Additionally if you are to be historically correct and add Roman units in the game, the Celts overran Rome in 390 B.C.E which did influence how Rome interacted with Helenic Greece. As quoted from Wikipedia "The Greeks in pre-Roman Gaul have a significant history of settlement, trade, cultural influence, and armed conflict in the Celtic territory of Gaul (modern France), starting from the 6th century BC".

thanks

Hi Alyona,

As I noted earlier to Hack, the Greeks did have contact with the Celts in Southern Gaul and their traders from such cities as Masalia (Marseilles in southern France) traded throughout the Mediterranean Basin and even traded wine with the Celts in Londinium. I have attached additional historical data for context:

If you find the idea intriguing I would be more than willing to sit down and help flesh out the idea for you

thanks

It's so great to know that you're willing to see new Units with some historic background in our game!

However, we are not planning to add new Units for now. They require too many changes into the game balance. However, if we ever decide to add some, I know whom to ask for some fresh ideas

Well unless you want to give me some historical evidence of them having relocation pools then yes I did "say" that
