IKE  Christmas  or the idea of it has been around for thousands  of years.     but also for thousands of years   soldiers don't get to celebrate the holidays.       I imagine the Spartan Christmas tree is a spear with a dead Persian attached to the pointy end.    and this is used  only to stay out of the rain.
