To help Leonidas to find his way back home, i must tell him it's the way #4 !

For a moment of culture: this is the Labyrinth of the Cathedral of Reims in France! it was a labyrinth of church installed on the ground of the nave of the cathedral

The maze was shaped like a square with cut corners complex of 34 feet ( 10.36 m ) of side. Paths measured 11 inches ( 27.94 cm ) wide separated by blue colored stone black lines of the bulge of 4.5 inches ( 11.43 cm ) . It consisted of soft stone that was wearing out the steps of the pilgrims, the same kind as that of the tombstone of Peter Libergier, now exposed on a cathedral wall.

The originality of the labyrinth is to present the masterpieces of the cathedral by bringing them out of the anonymity that prevails over other churches or cathedrals.

They are known precisely because the labyrinth was drawn up in 1640 by Canon Cocquault and in 1779 just before its destruction by Robin and Havé. These descriptions also contain deciphering inscriptions under each figure.

The central figure is identified as Aubry de Humbert, Archbishop of Reims who decided in 1211 to rebuild a new cathedral instead of the old one destroyed by a fire in 1210!

Removed of its characters, with a rotation of 45° (degrees) and often of dark red color, the labyrinth of the cathedral of Reims inspired the logo of the Historical Monuments in France.

It also illustrates the album cover of the Rolling Stones 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' , published in 1967! Did you know?
