How do you take care of your army, Archon?

War doesn't determine who is right - only who is left.

The only way to counter an ambush is to close the distance by charging the enemy.  Remaining in the kill zone is certain death.

The defense strategy.

In times of Leonids there were no firearms, so it would be easy to think like spartan and win in an ambush, the spartans were known and feared for their ferocious hoplites in phalanx formation, they could be that way and avoid attacks both sides as the front, the enemy arrows would not work, so the enemy would have to fight melee where lose advantage whatever the amount, we know that quality had the spartans.

Easy; just don't leave your offense army out like Socrates. Although, since many people are doing it its not that easy...

Turn on your auto hider while competing for pans or raiding an enemy - watch your enemy enter your city while your offense is in the acropolis, and his troups are greeted by your defense.

The best plan is to have an ally like Bama Beast- and to tell the exact time that the enemy raids your city so your ally can hit the enemy's city at the precise time that his troups have returned to his city. The screen shots are a beauty to behold.
